Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

Well, I guess I couldn't wait any longer. I flew my Cessna 152 down to Durhamtown and took some pretty lousy photos from the air with my cell phone. No MVs in sight yet, but that will change shortly. There was a very large fire very close to Durhamtown and the smoke made visibility poor, making...

Another day another brake petal on the floor

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt or hurt anyone else! The icing on the cake is that your truck wasn't damaged. One problem with an A3 is the automatic transmission. On the A2 you can gear down and even shift into low range to get it slowed way down as long as you have room. Although you can...

Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

If it's not one thing, it's another! I was doing my final PM on the A3, hitched up the water buffalo and was going to take it for a drive. Ker-pow! An airline on the air assisted steering blew, right where the tight bend is where it connects to the actuator. Instant pressure drop to zero...

Very nice! Thanks for the photos.

Design flaws? Torque rod, split rims?

The M35 series of truck are of excellent design and have served the military well. Those of us that have served in the military and driven the M35 or seen the M35 operate in extreme conditions with minimal problems know the truth. I'm done with this thread - you need to get a life.

    Ring mount leg confusion

The easiest way to tell when someone has a complete set of legs is that all three legs are different. The right and left are straight and the front is not. I only saw one plate for the drivers side. However, it is very easy to duplicate an existing plate.

Deuce Compatibility to DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid

DOT 5 is a silicone based brake fluid and is superior. it is hydrophobic, meaning that it will not absorb water. It tends to be very expensive when purchased retail. However, you can easily find it for sale in one gallon or more quantities from MV parts supply houses for a reasonable price...

    Replacing A3 wheel counter weights

This is not correct for the M35A3. The weight goes directly against the wheel with one nut holding it on and it is oriented correctly, not upside down. The spare is not supposed to have a wheel weight, because when the spare is mounted, the CTIS is not installed. You can airdown the tire, and...

Nice looking trailer. Congratulations on a good recovery.

    Looking for heater advice!

Are you trying to find a deuce on GL or buying from a private party? There are a lot of deuces around with heaters. When I picked up my first A2 a few years ago at Ft Indiantown Gap, PA, there were about 50 deuces on the lot. As I remember, I think everyone had a hot water heater installed...

Thoughts on removing A-frame drawbar on M101 A2

Ditto on a lot of work. I would leave the tongue alone, keep the surge brakes and either change to a rotating lunette or even easier, use a rotating pintle on the receiver. You can get an offset for the pintle hook to make your 101 pull relatively level. Saves a lot of work and won't bind ...

Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

This probably won't help you out because of the size, but I can get you MS27684-8 milspec drums that are painted semigloss OD. These are new, open-top drums including the top and ring. The downside is that they are 12-gallon, not 55, so I doubt you can use them. Also, I would need to have...

Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

Carnac, you need to convince Jewell to come on down Thursday afternoon. I know he's tied up Friday afternoon and the weekend, but he could spend Thursday night. I offered him a free bunk in one of the cabins. I'm not sure if he's gotten his Deuce brakes fixed yet or not. Will you need a...

    Fuel pump going bad?

I agree 100% with what has already been said. Air is getting into your line and fuel is draining back. This would also be a good time to change out all three fuel filters for PM. If your filters are gunked up, I would also drain and clean the tank and lines.

    M35A3 Idle adjustment

:ditto: My A3 has a very low idle speed, but it idles smooth as silk. When I want a faster idle speed, I simply pull out the throttle a little. There is no reason a 3116 engine should idle rough, unless something is wrong. I would check filters, fuel and try cleaning the injectors with...

    Deuce VS Civil vehicles

I would rather drive one of my deuces because that means I am not working and having fun instead. Or if I am working, it's work I want to do and am using the deuce to help with the work. I have both an A2 and and A3 and I drive them both a lot, normally several times per week, but not nearly...

Official 2011 SS Ga Rally Info thread

I finally got my A3 hub and CTIS back together today so I'll be drving it to the rally. I took it on a 25 mile checkout drive and had no problems, so I should be good to go. I had my A2 ready as a backup just in case. I planned on having the A3 looking better, but I ended up spending all my...

    M35A3 Wheel Valve Kits

I'm a firm believer in proper PM, but I also believe in 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. If your system is working fine, I wouldn't touch it.

    M35A3 Wheel Valve Kits

I finally broke down and dismantled a defective wheel valve I've had. I never found any kits to rebuild the wheel valve. However, after dismantlement, I discovered that the wheel valves are very simple. I simply took it apart, cleaned everything with gasoline, washed the parts with hot soapy...
