Well I installed one in 1986 M1028A2 & Yes Fan is there to there is alot room. Here is photo's. & 6BTA with dual Alt 24V starter & still has GM TH 400 trans Built to TH 475.

I stay with my alinco dt135 with dtmf chip it work for me.
