RE: So what
No, this relay creates the 24v for the solenoid. The complete starter (motor and solenoid) are 24v. I think its because it would have had to be a bastard starter to have the solenoid 12v, and motor 24.
Look at the schematics in the TM's, it will make total sense.
RE: So what
The relay is there because the starter needs 24v to activate it. Your ignition switch sends 12v. so the relay switches 24v, using the 12v signal.
If you are worried about failure... replace it with a solenoid, much like the glow plug relay on the firewall. It will handle the...
RE: Re: RE: Battery terminal meltdown
Yanno Eric, now that I think about it, I think thats how we ended up cutting it off. We just drilled it on the mill.
RE: Re: RE: Battery terminal meltdown
Its actually really simple... Here is how I did mine.
I set the battery on a mill, cleaned the old post off flat
Drilled a hole in the center, and tapped it for one of those side to top post converters.
Thread that in, nice and tight, and voila! you...
You could. If so, I would heli-coil it...
This is the simplest fix...
You will eventually run down the rear battery from starting, and not be able to start the truck.
So FT.. answer this for me...
GL 'allowed' something to be stolen off the trailer? Is this like how you 'allowed' your guns to be stolen?
For that matter, did you GO inspect the trailer before you bid? Maybe GL made a listing error and submitted the wrong photos? I bet their terms...
Guys, as to the search function. Yes it sux for most people. I have good luck with it, but maybe its just how my mind works, that I can get it to work for me.
I am (slowly) working on a major upgrade to the site that will fix this issue. Unfortunately, it could be weeks, months or even years...
Damnit all... The rule CLEARLY states....
I am sick of people bitching at each and every damn post of a link. You guys know who you are. There isnt much more unique than a M342 is there? Maybe an M756 or M108? I consider these all damn unique at GL.
Until the rule is changed to say NO...
Quite frankly... I agree.
I now nominate Bottleworks to create a 'Deuce FAQ' post, that can be made a sticky. In this post, he can reference all the current stickies, (as well as other 'FAQ' type material).
For an example of what I am talking about.... see here...
Did you actually power up each old glow plug to test it? Just reading with a meter isnt good enough, make sure they are making heat. I am willing to bet most of your old glow plugs are bad.
