16B shouldn't have a carb, right? 16A does, though.
A guy came by to look at one of the two 701s I was selling and bought both. I was going to test my spare voltage regulator on one before I sold it but now I can't.
Of the 4 MEP-701A gens I bought last year 2 worked fine and 2 were in need of parts.
One had no battery.
Three had dead batteries.
One had a Yanmar transplant that was not completed. The motor appears to have zero hours on it. There was almost no soot in the muffler when I started it up...
We put VFDs on a lathe and mill in the shop. We got one used on ebay for $100. They also make easy variable speed controllers. I would get VFD over rotary phase converter.
I paid $500 for a new, take-off 15kW Powertech/Marathon head on ebay. I would first try and find a used head or buy another gen set that obviously has motor trouble.
There is a nearby 20kW gen on CL for $600, NFI, just saw the ad. I'd investigate that before spending more on the gov liq...
Here in LA you have 30 days to register a trailer after purchase. I don't think they issue temp trailer tags here. Gov Liq will send you everything you need to register the trailer. Except, here in LA, the DMV likes to ask for stuff not required by law. I had to get three separate physical...
Mine is in this thread:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/59482-m101a1-standard-3500lb-axle-swap.html
I consider it more of a tilt to load than a dump trailer.
I don't have brakes so the lines are not an issue. I can chock the wheels if necessary to make it dump. However, as stated...
Did you check the diodes out of the circuits? It is odd that all diodes in a stack would be bad. Maybe a single or pairs will be bad, but not all.
OTOH, if you have a bad one it is a good idea to replace all with new, and maybe higher rated diodes.
3600 vs. 1800 RPM fuel economy doesn't work well on gens under 12HP or so, because of the power to weight ratio. You can get Lister types that are more fuel economical but they weigh 2X or 3X as much. To get the power at 1800 you'd have to have a huge flywheel.
What is wrong with 0.5...
Nope, it'll be whatever they wire them to be. They make them for export. These particular ones are 130V (120) 60HZ, three phase, 7.5kW.
7.5 KW Stamford Newage Generator End, New Surplus | eBay
What Isaac said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^.
There's a guy selling English made Stamford 7.5kW gen heads on ebay for $250, new, surplus.
I am resisting the urge to buy them even though I don't have a good, 12HP Diesel motor at present. The heads are 3600 RPM (4 pole, I think), though and SAE 5 bell.
Low fuel shutdown. If the fuel gets low the motor will surge and RPMs will go up and down erratically. That would be bad for many kinds of loads that the gen might be powering. It could damage both the gen head and the things it is powering. An abrupt shut down is better than running out of...
The 016B schematic shows relays K3 is low fuel shutdown and K4 is fuel level relay.
I assume K3 shuts down the unit when the fuel gets low and K4 shuts of the auxiliary pump when the on board tank is full.
Here's the advice part:
If that is a standard E conversion and disconnecting the...
