I will take the clutch off tomorrow afternoon. I am apprehensive about it. If I take out the six allen head screws does that remove the clutch? Isn't there a bolt in the center?
My fan problem must be like that. I can move the edge of the fan forward and backward a good 3 inches. The fan also spins on the shaft with no air to the clutch.
Darn. Where can I buy a new clutch and fan?
The fan spins on the shaft with no air pressure. I see the six allen head screws that I believe hold the fan on.Guess I have to remove them. Didn't want to do that.
My new truck has a fan problem that has me stumped. I have gone over the manuals again and again. I've got the parts memorized, but I ca't fix it.
When I was driving it home at 50-54 MPH I heard a loud intermittent noise and vibration. Had to almost crawl home because it wouldn't happen at...
I just bought a M1078 and I'm excited about it. OK, it's silly.
Anyhow, I need cigarette lighter sockets to plug my power cables into for my GPS, etc.
Where can I find a 12 volt DC source to wire it into on this truck?
Thanks, Steve
Yes, should be a safety feature, lose air pressure and brakes come on.
OK, I'm going for some remaining questions:
1.The M1078 doesn't have a switch for High/Low range that I have found. So it doesn,t have two ranges?
2. When in 4 wheel drive do all 4 wheels grab because both differentials...
Does an M1078 have spring brakes like a civilian vehicle?
I may not be asking this correctly.
If you lose air pressure in either brake system do the brakes come on to prevent a runaway vehicle?
Thanks, Steve
I have learned a lot here and I thank everybody for their candid advice. It sounds like GP is above my level of ability.
But, I do have good news. I have purchased a M1078 from a private sale like it has been suggested here. Sure it cost more than GP, but I took it for a test drive and the...
In my case I would have to drive the truck home, so it has to start and run.
I can't jump 24volts from my Dodge Cummins pick up. I don't have military jumper cables and if I did, my truck doesn't accept them of course.
How does somebody look at an auction truck and try to jump start it? What...
This is very interesting. I assumed they never even put jumper cables on a truck. If it's batteries wouldn't start it up they just said wouldn't start.
Are you saying they use jumper cables during the inspection? So if it won't start it has a serious problem?
Any ideas where I can find a...
Hello all. I would like to buy a M1078. When I look on govplanet.com there are several of them for sale on their auction (close enough to drive home to North Florida). None of them start for their simple inspection.
I would like to hire a mechanic to check out a couple of these vehicles...
Well ow, I've learned a lot here and have lots of questions. I should do some research and come back here.
It seems that the trucks come in different lengths and even expandable? And different engines?
I don't intend to go off road driving with one. Just for enjoyment, but only a few MPG...
I've never used the member's map, but will give it a try.
I don't know which model I will end up with. I'd like a truck with a box in the back suitable for limited camping.
I restored my M1028A2, S250 and M101A2 and enjoyed it. Now I want to sell or trade those vehicles and get a 5 ton...
Yes, that's the place I was referring to. They won't let you look over the truck you are interested in.
I've never owned a 5 ton truck. Are they fun to drive?
Thanks, Steve
