    Is it too heavy?

According to the TM 9-2320-211-10 max payload on the 5th wheel is 55,000lbs on pavement. Should be doable, just a little slow.

    m818 mack

Are you sure its a Mack engine? Which model engine? The older 5 tons (M52A1) came with the ENDT-673. the newer M809 series of trucks ( of which the M818 is the tractor version) came with a NHC-250 Cummins. The M818 is longer in the hood/side panels and fenders to accommodate the longer...

    m818 mack

If it has a Mack engine then its a M52A1 not an M818. The M818 has a Cummins engine. Unless someone did some changing of the engines. What do the data plates say?

If you look in the resources section under the tech manuals - there is a TACOM one that gives all the dimensions and weights of all the vehicles and trailers.

    Is it too heavy?

What truck do you have? Tractor? or what??? Does the trailer ( I assume the excavator is on a trailer) have brakes that will work with your truck? Pretty vague post - need more info.

Is GL Hard To Work With?

Make sure you have a lot of patience because you will become upset with GL. Its a given. For first time buyers, the EUC takes a long time. Customer service is at best good, most of the time its bad to non existent! We used to have a GL rep on site here but she could not ever answer our...

    m62 and the m813

I believe the front winches are the same. Fenders and hood are longer on the M809 series (Cummins is a longer engine). Axles are the same.

    Wheel cylinders for the M-62

OD iron or Antelope Valley has them. Note - the fronts are 1 3/4" bore and the rear is a 2" bore. I have read several posts on here about putting the 2" on the front but I also read a post from David Doyle that states - DO NOT DO THIS!! So I wouldn't if I were you.

    Big tires on little axles

I have run my 35" BFG's on my front Dana 30 in my Jeep Comanche rock crawler for a few years without any problems, just gotta be careful with the skinny pedal. I say 37" tires are fine if you are careful. If you are gonna upgrade - go all the way with one ton Dana 60/14bolt FF axles.
