at least i know the deuce is ready to go now. just having it sit a while before the trip... oh well.... she'll start right up in a couple weeks im sure! :D
im with gimp. if you have a good oil pressure.... valves are a good place to start. if anything, a good starting point for PM. when i adjusted my valves, i had 3 valves that were tight.
well i broke my right leg a week ago. i hit a deer when i was on the bike. hope i recover in time for the rally! broke my tibula and fibula (the 2 bones that connect the knee and ankle). i cant put weight on it for 6 weeks, then we'll see from there. at least its not a clutch foot!
i pulled a 25,000 lb sled last weekend and pulled 352 feet and ran out of power in first low. i had about 3,000lbs of mulch in the back too, tires aired to 40 in the back, and 50 in the front. traction was not a problem at all, i just ran out of horsepower. not bad though!
after looking at the pictures of the pump fuse, i can get in there with my meter and measure the voltage. i can also measure the voltage drop between the pump and the battery if the voltage is low. i havent not have much experience with slow blow fuses, so i didnt know what is possible. i...
I just pulled my fuse cover today to see if the fuse connection had any corrosion. The problem i am having is my pump will sometimes not run until i give it one pound with my fist to the top of the fuse cover, then it will start working, but at a low speed. it sure does not sound like it used to...
just an FYI, i think the length of the alt belts on the deuce are 47 inches? somebody correct me if i am wrong. but when i put the delco 10SI alternator bracket above my original 24 volt alternator, i actually ordered a belt 1/2" shorter to allow the alternator to be closer to the engine block...
yea, im anxious too. i just bought a oversion rear lockout kit for my forward rear drive axle.... so it will be neat to see what these look like! Think im going to do the install tonight. Its always neat seeing the old technology in action! bring on the pics!
i had a lady pull out infront of me in a parking lot last afternoon. i hit the air horn.... i wonder what she was thinking when she looked in her mirror and saw nothing but bumper in her mirror. i dont know if she was on the phone or not though.
thats what doghead did with me at the syracuse nationals. he got the boom going, swinging me back and forth and tossed me into the 28 inches of water i had in the back of my deuce! that was sooo much fun! i want a M816 now... or a M108!
Would the oil coming from the slobber tube (or oily mist) cause junk to build on the vanes of the turbo though and cause the turbo not to run efficient? thats my only thought there, but that way the smoke wouldnt be going out the exhaust... humm... sounds like a good idea though
it would be neat to have some sort of PCV system on the truck though so it didnt smoke on the ground like it does. i think cranetrucks LDS 465-2 has his breather running in his exhaust pipe after the turbo (maybe to simplify fording?). i wonder if anybody has done that mod to their deuce. i dont...
Do you think a 6' lead wire length would be long enough to mount a pyrometer on the steering column? im looking at a pyrometer kit on www.dieselmanor.com and was wondering if that length would be good. thanks!
the fender is slanted.... im taking a wild guess you are making a new pipe that is bigger. so you want the measurement from the "down hill" part of the stack?
how did you guys make out with your filters and low power issues? i noticed my deuce not producing the same boost pressures as it used to so i changed all my filters jatonka spin on) yesterday after checking my fuel pressure (at the top of the final fuel filter housing). I had about 25psi of...
