Adding a Third axle to my deuce

I'd add another steering axle behind the front one I think.

Adding a Third axle to my deuce

I'm also interested in getting more axles/tires under a deuce for more flotation/traction. It seems most trucks were designed to be rear drive and the fwd was added as an afterthought, making the front sink prone due to tire to weight ratio, until things like the XM410 and HEMMT where they...

    Berg Tire

Well, I'm not a MV owner (yet) but I've run lots of MV tires on civvy offroad stuff and know of many who have. I've learned that date codes are very important. When we run them, we run them at low (single digit) pressures and beat the wee out of them. If they're old, they crack instead of...

    Ahhhh! Which ones are which?

Another. Why doesn't your sig go onto all your posts when you add/change it? Looks like it only goes on the posts you make after you change it.

    Sig test.

    Ahhhh! Which ones are which?

Is there someplace I can look and see what all the different numbers/models of the trucks designate or refer to? I just started surfing the 5ton and up forum and I see tons of different designations.

    Cummins hard to start

I'm a total MV newb, and he didn't give much details. The weather was cold and he probably let it sit for years. I think he said something about maybe the timing or something having to be adjusted just right (which is hard to do) to get it to start. I will pass the info, thanks.

    Berg Tire

Do you MV guys usually check date codes? I don't see much reference to it here on SS.

My dad lives in WA and tells me he has had a real hard time getting his 5 ton wrecker started. Any tips? Thanks.

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

Yeah. I was gonna say you might get tired of shifting but when you're unloaded you could probably skip gears.

    Wy Cummins

I don't know what my 325/85/16s are rated for but they do SoCal freeway speeds in triple digit temps all the time on my Cummins Dodge....and have been known to hit triple digit speeds. Shhhhh As far as breakage, two things play in...power and load. Power from the engine and load from...

Alas we must say goodbye to you Multifuel.

I wonder too. I have a mechanical hotrodded 5.9 in my dodge witha NV4500 behind it. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' but the truck only weighs 7000. Put a trailer behind it and load it up to 13000 and I gotta take it easy to avoid burning things up and there is too much space between the...

    Super Heavy Wreckers.. 1/2

What is this one with 16 tires? How did it steer? Both front axles steer like a HEMMT?

395s WILL fit on a stock Deuce!!!

Re: different tire/wheel widths, I run 325/85/16 XMLs (38" tall, 13" wide) on my '88 Blazer and '95 Dodge. 7" or 8" wide wheels on the blazer and 10" on the Dodge. I beat the wee outta them, offroading on rocks, etc. at low pressures, and I'm not gentle as I should be with the throttle, as...
