OK. We have been having one he!! of a cold winter so far! -20 and colder without windchill. Usually it doesnt get down that cold till mid December. Ive been afraid to start m M1028 but have and she did start. But its not something that should be done if you dont have some type of engine block...
Ive seen some of the "KATZ" magnbetic heaters. The problem with some of those is it puts out 300 to 400 degrees of heat! Wat to much for engine oil. Could it even boil it? I believe the elemnets on what ever you get should stay below 250 degrees F. MAX. I like the idea of two block heaters...
I am now looking for some type of engine heater. I dont think I can install a block heater with out pulling the engine but am not sure on that. Ive seen some inline heaters that use the radiatror hose or heater hose to heat up the fluid and pump it through the engine was the thermostat heats...
Can anyone tell me which engine I have? Is it a 6.2 or a 6.5? Here are the pics The oil pan I am told is out of a Hummer. The date stamp on the oil pan is from 1996.
For some reason my Thank you wont post. Thank you for the info. I just got in from crawling up and inside the the truck. The two lines coming out of the IP (Injector Pump) look good and new but I will replace them as you suggetsed. The 1 1/4" long piece of tube coming off of the hard line...
Thanks Scarecrow1! She really does seem to be mechanically sound. I believe I have the high rpm shifting problem narrowed down due to fellow SS members here. I will replace the rubber lines first and see if that fixes it.
Also found this TM Manual in the truck under the seat. Shes pretty dirty on the outside but just fine on the inside! Nice little bonus. Here is a picture of the decontamination bottle I found behind the seat as well.
LOL. Did that right before I logged on. Will post in a minute. This manual is pretty thin compared to some I saw in the vehicles a few SS members asked me to inspect when I picked mine up.
Tomorrow I will head to NAPA (the only automotive store for 4 hrs) and see if they have some GM locks and ignition assembly. I will also pick up everything I need for the "Doghead" Starter relay mod. Thanks Doghead for this great mod!
