Actually, he liked the truck a lot. He wasn't trying to be mean or anything. I've found the best thing to minimize the wobble is to run about 55 PSI in the tires. It's amazing how it smooths the truck out. The other thing is that when I drive it, I kind of let the steering wheel do it's...
I let someone drive my M35A3 today. They really liked the truck, but made a comment I didn't much like. The guy had apparently driven a school bus back in his past. He said that driving the A3 was like "driving a green wobbly school bus". He said the sound from the CAT engine coupled with...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! A great place and a lot of good information. If you are interested in an M35 you should go ahead and start reading the posts. You will learn a lot.
The bottom of the lid is flat and made of stainless steel. The lip as you mentioned is a hard rubber grommet, screwed on. The outer edge of the hard rubber grommet is ~1/2 inch and the inner depth is ~3/4 inch. I took some more photos as you can see. I apologize for the poor photo quality. I...
The last barrel band heater I used was from McMaster Carr. This was years ago, so the price paid then is immaterial now. I was using it to heat chemicals and mix them by convection. To keep from moving the sludge in the bottom around, keep the heater up maybe 6 - 10 inches. I also had the...
It's still raining, but I went ahead and took some photos. Let me know if you need more photos or specific measurements. If it was me, I'd keep looking for a lid. As soon as you go ahead an do the work to make a lid, you'll find one.
I think a barrel heating band is best, because you get a lot of good mixing in the barrel. If you place the band near the bottom, the heated oil near the barrel sides will flow upwards in the barrel following the walls and the cooler oil will fall down the middle. This will help heat the...
Check the bolts on the drive shaft between the transmission and TC. Put both in neutral and actually take two wrenches and tighten each one of the bolts. It is sometimes difficult to tell if they are loose until you try to tighten them. This is a common Deuce problem, not to say that this is...
I have both my M35A2 and M35A3 listed as flat bed trucks with State Farm and also on the titles and registrations. The agent took photos to send in to State Farm's headquarters. They are commercial policies for non-commercial use. Inexpensive and no problems. I think listing an M35 as a...
I don't think your experience during downshifting was normal behavior, or at least my A3 never behaved like that, either before or after the change to ATF. When I slowed down with motor oil in the transmission, there were two distinctive clunks as it downshifted to 2 and then 1. Both were...
A lot of A2 have the same ether system, including mine. A2s start so easy, even in cold weather, that ether is seldom needed. My A3 needs ether much more often than my A2.
