Ditto on the fuel filter. Eliminate the simple things first. If you just got the A3, you need to change out the fuel filter anyway. I also agree on replacing the transmission external filter as it is extremely easy to do and very cheap.
When I lost 5th gear, I simply swapped out the transmission. You can find take-outs very cheap. I did the clutch and PP at the same time, although mine was working fine. Bottom line is never start out in 2nd gear.
I may be crazy, but I just went out into the pouring rain to look at my tire codes.
All of the tires on my truck have 93 as the last two digits, indicating they were manufactured in 1993, including my spare which had the white sticker with a manufacture date of 05/88. It clearly stated this...
I know what you are going through I was in an earthquake in Tianjin, China a few years ago and the building was swaying like crazy, everything falling down and machinery weighing several tons was sliding around. All I could think about was the cheap and shoddy construction of the building...
When I picked up my A3 in Sparta, I had driven approximately 700 miles towards home, when I blew a tire in Kentucky. I had the spare mounted. There was a white Michelin sticker on the tread portion of the spare tire that had a manufacture date of 05/88. My truck is a 98 model, so this tire...
When I was in the Army in the early 70s, it was very common to steal vehicles from another unit not nearby and swap the dataplates and change the registration #s on the hood as well as the unit information between the two vehicles. We did this right before inspections. We would go cruising...
When you drained the oil was it clean and clear? Did any visible trash come out? Based on your symptoms it sounds to me like low fluid pressure. I would definitely change the internal filter before proceeding. Also, when I changed out from motor oil to Dextron III, I also did the drain and...
Welcome to SS Shack! You will find a lot of good information here. If you are interested in getting a Deuce, I recommend that you read as much as you can before jumping in.
I have both an M35A2 and an M35A3. I like them both. Both appear to be very reliable. I was going to sell one or the other, but I can't make my mind up so I will most likely keep both. Don't tell my wife! I've had my A2 for about a year and a half and drive it regularly and use it on my...
I seriously doubt highway performance would be impacted, but I'm not an expert. I have no idea what the impact is on driving in heavy rain for instance.
The tires were intended to be directional by Michelin and self-cleaning, like the tires on a tractor. The 'V' in the tread is supposed to be pointing rearward when in contact with the ground on both sides for all wheels. That being said, Michelin also says that they can be run in either...
When I picked up my A3 from Sparta, the tires were not all mounted the same way. They were installed correctly on both sides. The spare was set up like the drivers side. I've seen a lot of A3s still at GL lots, some with the tires mounted correctly and others all mounted the same. Obviously...
I have now talked with two people at CM Automotive. They are quite proud of their CTIS system on the M35A3 and state that it is very reliable and simple. Both people told me that it is not fair that people are buying these trucks at auction and complaining, because these CTIS systems are...
A few weeks ago I saw a procedure in the TM for testing the axle seals to see if they hold pressure, and now I can't fid it. I'll keep looking. I do remember that the procedure included installing a pressure gauge, pressurizing the system and seeing how long the system held pressure. There...
I work for Honeywell International, and we have a manufacturing plant located on Brooksbank Avenue in N. Vancouver. You should finish your pilots license. You have excellent opportunities for flying in BC.
Your M109A3 is still a multifuel, no problems. The fuel viscosity compensator simply adjusts the IP to account for different energy levels in the fuel so that the engine behaves more similarly regardless of the fuel. I'd leave the viscosity compensator by-passed if it was me.
