Post 10, pic 1. That thing is clearly full of mud (or was). Those bearings are dry and have been for a while. If it heated up and melted the grease out he should have seen it well before this. This failure did not "just happen"
I'm asking how long he has owned it because of this, Did spoon...
How long have you owned it?
Thats a piss poor attitude when your driving on the public roads with my wife and kids. I was willing to give you the benifit of doubt. But you just lost all respect from me with that statement.
I know all about that. When I was 17 I spent two days after work in a convience store parking lot replacing a front spindle on my '72 CJ when one of my wheel bearings gave up the ghost after a weekend of deepwater 4wheeling and neglected to check things afterwards. The first 5 hours was spent...
Remove and replace with a known good tank or remove and take it to a competent shop that can clean and repair it.
If your here asking for options than I take it you do not have the tools or knowhowto repair it your self. (not dogging on you, just letting you know the realistic way of getting...
:ditto: Move the pto shaft out of the way and try to spin the winch in reverse. Loosen up the drum enough to get the hook off the shackle without any tension on it. Once its loose release the clutch on the winch, double check to see the drum lock pin is out and hook the winch onto another...
Thanks DH, I keep coming back to this thread to see what the complaint is this time and while reading post 24 and 25 I was thinking the same thing. How hard is it to register on this site and introduce yourself, tell us about the "new" truck you just got and what it has and what it doesn't have...
If its that tight already I doubt the drum lock pin is in. It would be awfully lucky to get the holes lined up while its under tension. I bet the cable is just bound against itself.
I dont think your axle shaft is coming out with it. Theres no way the u-joint would fit thru the spindle. If the spinde broke off with it, you'd know it because the front end on that side would be sagging down.
 Hope you dont plan on driving on wet or even slightly slippery pavement. You start to spin theres noway you'll have time to catch it.
Are you concerned with axle width? Whether or not the driveshaft shares the same u-joint? I doubt the 70 going to share the same joint as a...
Ft Riley does loadouts Tue. Wed. and Thurs. only. If need be they can be stored at my place. Im about 30 min East of Ft Riley. Glen is about 45 min to an hour west. Glen usually has the time and definately the experience to recover the trucks if you guys get in a bind. I could assist in the...
Don't do that. Your just going to confirm that this thread was nothing more than a feeble attempt to bring attention to his ebay ad. We had that all but squashed till you came along posting that.
Welcom to SteelSoldiers. Hope you got your big boy briches on.
Need to find an a1 lunette. But as stated in other threads, if you dont need the brakes, just lock them out. By the time you do all the work to buy/swap parts your only losing 30-40lbs maybe. Not worth the effort to me.
IIRC someone said something about an early cj master cylinder is the...
