I had a pretty good set of wood that came with my truck-- a few pieces weren't too good tho-- repaired them with fiberglass.Actually have an upright that about the bottom 12 inches was rotted clear off--rather time consuming to build it up with fiberglass but at the time I had the time and...
Looks like a m328 bridge truck we went to look at that was for sale here locally---tooo much money and at 10 feet wide we thought we'd go broke getting overwidth permits everytime we went to drive it:roll:Pretty cool truck though ,what a monster!!
I too remember a member having a name with something like "crackpipe" tied up in it:-D! But no-- 'taint me -I signed on with the Waayfast thing-haven't ever been anybody "else" here and no offense taken.

Hood hinged down the middle with 24 louvers per side,Hendrickson Walking beam rear suspension,Better off road capabilities than the "other" 2-1/2 ton trucks of the time, not many around and no website for support, parts very hard to obtain and because of that, not real popular.
MV no-man's...
Seems like about a year ago, someone on here posted that he had found a Goer at a salvage yard/equipment yard? in Salt Lake City,UT??.Do some search here, maybe you can find the post, I can't remember the members name. If you could chase that lead down ,that would help you on shipping-- a bit...
Thanks for looking Gimpyrobb---I think if the engine will run I will eventually put it in my "parts truck" and leave the unmolested '57 gasser unmolested.(Avatar)
The parts truck is a U.S.M.C.--may be interesting to have a Marine Corp truck since I rarely ever see one.Seems like 99% are Army...
To turbo-or not to turbo!!?? If it looks like its worth fixing I may look into converting to a turbo.I read up on some posts on that subject-some say why bother, just one more component to fail, and really no more power. OH YEAH?:-D Well what about at altitude? I live at 5000ft,wouldn't the turbo...
Different states (and their officers) deal with this their own different ways. Granted, you are not hauling for hire(participating in commerce in any way) but the dudes in the chicken coop dont know that ----all they see is a big (and 99% of big trucks ARE commercial) blowing past their port...
Thanks for the info!!----I thought that may be a possibility.I also noticed that the valve covers are "loose" which leads me to believe that perhaps it was running when the failure took place. Then during the trouble shooting they checked the top end, THEN found the real reason for it to stop...
Hello all,
My bad!Did a little gambling!I went to an estate auction last weekend and bought a steel container for 100.00.Didn,t really know for sure what was really in it---there were other engines parked around this box so I guessed it contained an engine. There was no chance to take the lid...
Welcome to the site!! As soon as the back axles start to spin, the sprague clutch kicks in and the steer axle begins to pull. Primative but works for most applications but kinda weird on slick roads-has a mind of it's own so to speak. With the air shift style YOU have control when it drives the...
Yep, the lefty/righty thing seems to be a sure trap for the newbies.I also have seen the old trick of techs installing 1 or more incorrect studs(one lefty amongst the rightys) or as I just found recently, atruck with a right hand hub installed on the left.

Years back I was going to take my old Chevy 1 ton flatbed to the dump one Saturday.Decided I would put on the pair of new steer axle tires I'd finally been able to afford, then make the trip.Jack up front and procede.2 hours of torch/PB Blaster/jumping up and down on long cheaterpipe got lugs...
No word yet from the owners--was shown this stuff by a fella that does'nt own it--looks more and more like a looong shot at best:cry:.SWORDMD thanks for the info--always thought I'd like to have a 'track--so if I do get the pieces I'll probly keep 'em and look for more pieces.Then...
Welcome to SS!Well,Dang! ---I'm almost a CCKW owner! Kind of a long story but I may be going down to pick it up later today.Or maybe not(paper issues). 1943 353 wo/w, no bed, mostly just for parts:cry:---once I got it drug out of the bushes you could really see a BADLY abused (ie.swayback like a...
I suppose in a perfect world, waiting to get the money to "do" it all correctly certainly would be the best way, but the world (an this present-day economy) sure as heck aint perfect.I think that the attempt to repower with whats available to the owner is actually a VERY good idea.I would...
