    Anyone using this battery?

Yes that battery will work. I wish I had gotten batteries like that. Your stock battery trays should be long enough to fit them also, but measure anyhow to make sure. I wouldn't try to use the stock battery hold-downs though. I did that on mine at first and it bent them up when I tightened down...

    what to buy

One thing I would definately do before I bought either truck is have him start them up cold and see if either one has to be cranked and cranked and cranked for a long time before it will start. Then let it idle down and TURN THE HEATER ON FULL BLAST with the lights on. let the heater run the...

    what to buy

Dang when you say Partial floor board do you mean the 86 has a hole or many holes in the floor board and this guy still wants $3500 for it??? The 85 sounds like a much better truck.

    do I want a cucv

Notice you mentioned cross country expeditions. Not sure if you mean road trips or off-road trips. If you mean road ones keep in mind that the M1028 does have 4.56 gears and a 3speed trans. When I bought my M1028 I drove it from NJ. all the way out here to the hills of haymarket VA. going about...

What the H$ll did they do to this bumper??

Lol at first glance I didn't think the bumper was actualy attached. I thought it was just sitting there on the frame rails. I knew a guy one time that had a blazer with 44" boggers and they shook his whole front bumper loose going down the highway and caused him to run over it. That thing went...

    New LTBs mounted...pics

Nope the tires don't rub at all with my stock suspension luckily. I got the taillights and boxes from Northern Tool. The back-up lights came from the local truck supply store out here. Lol they are a definate improvement over the stock ones.

    New LTBs mounted...pics

Been workin on my M1028 some more. I got a set of 34X10.50X16" super swamper LTBs on sale for $604.00 shiped. I wasn't sure if they would fit without hitting the front fender wells when I went to back out of my driveway or not. Figured it was a crap shoot but I decided to order them in that size...

    best lift for a m1008

Tuff country springs are wildly popular for suspension flex over on coloradok5. I have a 4" set in the rear of my 1990 jimmy with a DIY4X shackle flip and 6" shackles. With a floor jack under the spring they flex better than the 6" BDS springs im replaceing. Lol im not done building that truck...

    How does this M1008 sound?

One thing you might want to do is make sure he is starting it up cold and not half warm and let it idle down. then turn all the lights and blinkers on and TURN THE HEATER ON FULL BLAST and see if either generator light glows at all. By the way is that the stock suspension on that truck??? I was...

    4l80e from behind a 6.2

Forgot to ask. Are you gonna get the np205 with it? And if so does the 205 have a slip yoke or is it in the driveshaft?

    4l80e from behind a 6.2

I've been wanting to do the 4L80e swap for a while too on my M1028 and only heard good things about the compushift. They say it will give your truck a whole different attitude since you can program it to shift whenever or however you want. About the manual valvebody I read a post on coloradok5 I...

    my cucv ram-air project

Noticed that 84cucv1ton asked about that fuel filter so I'll go ahead and do a mini write up. The fuel filter base I have is a RACOR490 with a 10micron filter and 24volt fuel heater. I won it on Ebay for $152.00. Not sure how much these things cost from a supplier or store. I chose the 490...

    New Guy

A while back I used to drive around in an 84 bronco that had a 9" rear swapped into it with a detroit locker. That thing always had REALLY REALLY bad torque steer and would even jump gear teeth once in a while. It would make a very noticable clang when it loaded up and jumped a tooth. Eventually...

    my cucv ram-air project

Thanks for the feedback everyone. One thing I should mention about the 6.5L air cleaner assembly is that some of them might not clear the CDR plumbing on the cucv 6.2Ls. Originally when I went looking for parts at the junkyard I was only looking for an intake resonator to quiet down that loud...

    my cucv ram-air project

Hello Iv'e been doing some work on my M1028 lately anf figured I'd share. I just added a RACOR spin-on fuel filter,6.5L air cleaner assembly with a MUCH larger air inlet,a 6.5L intake resonator, and some battery relocation to make room for my full-on ram-air conversion!!! It also has a set of...

    HELP! Starting problems... see video

It sounds like air in the lines to me. Probly at the fuel filter base. I just corrected that problem on my M1028 by converting it to a RACOR spin on filter. One of my 6.2 books says that the GM model 80 fuel filter was defective and that GM made a new seal kit for it to stop the thing from...

    M1028/31 body lift

Im looking into putting a 2"body lift on the cab of my M1028/31 and can't seem to find any info on doing that. From what I have gathered I think the only problem I'll have is with some of my lines. I plan on useing an electric fan conversion and junking the stock shroud. I've put body lifts on a...
