My advice is to take it to a "truck" tire shop that deals with large heavy vehicles. They will not even blink at doing a tire on your size truck. Most "car" tire places will have problems.
And yes two 6 ton jack stands should be fine to hold up one axle. Get a 20 ton bottle jack.
Have you actually gotten stuck in the mud or just had it slip and slid some?
Step 1: air down - cost = free
Step 2: chains - cost = varies but not too bad ( maybe $300?)
Step 3: upgrade tires - cost = varies probably around $200 per tire
these are all cheaper and easier than lockers.
You will find that GL is an often criticized company on here.
I believe they don't actually "own" the surplus but just get a certain percentage of the sale price once sold.
We actually had a GL representative on here awhile ago but she left due to all the complaints that she really did not...
Another hint/tip is to use a Hi-Lift jack if you have one.
put the tire under a vehicle with a good bumper, place the jack on the tire where you want the bead to break and start lifting the vehicle. Done a few that way.

Open the hood and if you see a crossover tube on top, then its a Mack and you should buy it!!!:grd:
GL= Government Liquidations= auction for surplus truck= CRACK!!
Boyce is a large military vehicle dealer, kinda expensive in my opinion, located in Ogden UT.
mileage can be from 5 mpg to almost 12 mpg.
I have gotten 10mpg driving one back from California. I just sold my deuce with winch and...
As far as the tranny/bellhousing, the multi should bolt right up to it but you would want an overdrive tranny, the gasser tranny is a direct drive I believe, you would be limited in your speed.
I would not put a LDT or LD from a deuce in your wrecker. They lack power in a 13,000lbs deuce...
