FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

As you know, that battery connector is the (far) more affordable "civilian version" of the NATO plug. I've used them for winches, on tractors with hard to access batteries, and in many other applications. This one was installed primarily to enable jump starting the Pete with the trailer (which...

Wow. I guess I can stop considering myself anal about torque specs. I would've never thought to use a torque wrench on a diff cover.

Need Door and Hood for FLU419

Congrats! I was eyeballing those two SEEs myself. Anyway, you might have to dig around for a hood as they're SEE/MMHM specific, or get a fiberglass one from Expedition Imports, which I did. It'll require some modifications, but for the SEE it's going on it doesn't matter. I've seen steel hoods...

Using my SEE for real work

Up or nothing?!? What about down...I thought you had a backhoe. How hard could it be to dig the floor area down a foot or two? Then you could install a heated floor while you're at it. Keeps the tools nice and warm when working under a vehicle.

Using my SEE for real work

Tires could very well make the difference, peakbagger, and if I get the parts SEE to run reliably this weekend it'd be an opportune moment to try its bias tires on the road. Of course, That'd be comparing the HMMH (which handles better anyway) on radials to a SEE on bias tires, so it might be a...

Using my SEE for real work

Welcome, and I hope you got a good SEE. Or at least one that the rats haven't modified too badly. I still cringe when thinking of General Hood's and others descriptions of their wiring wars. Kubota vs. SEE? Now you got me thinking. Having a couple of each I'm not so sure I'd give up the Kubotas...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

Most of them are used as starting batteries, some are "floaters" and used as needed, and only four are in use in an application even close to "home wind/solar installation".Pictured are the ones in the Peterbilt, right after installation some 17 years ago. The extensions at the ends of the...

Hmm, got the altitude and corresponding thin air, plus relatively frequent lightning. Sounds like the easy way to get rid of the diagnostic system would be to park the SEE on a hill, with the backhoe facing all the way up, and just wait. Instead of taking that battery to recycling, you could...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

I did a fair amount of battery testing in the Nineties and came across interesting technologies as a result. Still, despite using desulphation and (mostly) the correct charging, I'm down to one surviving wet battery from that time. And it's no longer a fully functional battery. On the other...

Shh! Please don't tell the Optima in my Jeep that it's past its Best By date. It's about 22 years old.

No, my Jeep has the battery on a shallow tray, under the floor behind the seats. I learned a long time ago that it's easier to make sure that water can get out than it is to keep it out. During that first period of "drownings" I almost always ended up so deep that I had to shut the engine off...

Yikes! And here I was miffed that Optima Group 31s have gone up in price...to $245 delivered. For $4K (times however many you want) I'd think that you could buy enough Optimas and solar panels to keep things running quite well. Worldwide.

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

Are you saying that every time I submerged my Jeep (and its regular lead acid battery) it short circuited so I couldn't use the electric winch, or move the Jeep with the starter? Good thing I didn't know that at the time or I would've been up the creek. Well, I was in a creek, or maybe it was a...

    Glow Plug Help

I wouldn't be that lucky. My leakage is before the pump, so air gets in but no fuel comes out.

    Glow Plug Help

Stock doesn't mean it's fully functional. I've been chasing air leaks in the fuel line on a stock Unimog for weeks now. Fuel doesn't leak out, but air leaks in, somewhere, and that leads to crappy performance - or even no performance at all.

You got me curious now. I hope you describe (and show some pics) of what you do with your setup.

Since changing the fuel filter made a difference, I'd start checking the fuel delivery system.

    Non-military 20' Trailer Strengthening Advice

Sorry, I forgot, but finally looked up the weight of this trailer on the title. I think my guess of 9-10,000 lbs. load capacity is closer to the truth than the 11,070 lbs. that the listed weight would allow. There's no way this trailer weighs only 2,930 lbs. Yes, aluminum is light, but not that...
