I only own 73 - 91 GM trucks of this body style.
Before anyone jumps me to say, 'they stopped making this body style in 1988'. Not in the Suburban. They made it up until 1992, when they finally came out with the newer (smaller) Suburban.
My 1991 GMC Suburban needs work occasionally. It's...
Yeah, after reading this, I went out and cycled my wait light (7 sec) and then it started right up.
My M1028A2 has always started up quickly. I just love them.
It seems your extended wait time IS probably due to ambient temp.
If you get any warmer days (or have recently) does it still take...
cliffyp,
EXCELLENT LOOKIN RIG FOR SURE.
And the deals are out there for a while longer because eventually there literally won't be any more of the CUCV's. It could be a while, but eventually they will all be out of military hands.
It just takes time and patience and a ton of luck on any...
Sold the deuce and bought an M1009, M1028A2, M1009, M101A1 & M101A2 BECAUSE I felt the fight with the City of Denver over size just wasn't worth it.
Strangely enough, RV's are not an issue and you see them in lots of places around here. Not all neighborhoods allow them though. So it's as much...
OK, it's after LABOR DAY now. We have purchased a home in Keller and are starting to get moved in.
We KNEW we had the right place when we were looking at the house, we noticed the guy next door (Don) collects and had an M43 ambulance and an M37 pickup, and he said he also had a GPW (or two)...
Why that there is one of those #2 intake cylinder plugs made up by inventive folks at the Motor pool when they got bored...
THAT'S what that there thingy is
and you scored big...
I have found that I can generally make my money back over the long run... having said that, you do LOSE some along...
this comes up every year or so...
been there... done that...
LOVE the mod, cheap, easy, elegant and you can ALWAYS go back to original, just keep the old top in case you want to. Pix in the post in case you need visual confirmation...
Just finished an 850 mile one way with my M1028A2 pulling my M1009.
I consumed 2 liters of water every 100 miles. 1 liter IN ME an 1 liter ON ME. That worked fairly well and given the amount of evaporation, IT DID COOL THE CAB. I spilled it ALL OVER ME, the seat, the floor etc. trying to...
It's pretty funny really.
If someone wants your vehicle - and I don't care WHAT vehicle we are talking about - it WILL get stolen.
Ask me why I know this. There is literally NOTHING you can do to stop a determined thief. I have had two different vehicles removed from my ownership without my...
We are moving to the Dallas area. The movers packed and loaded our stuff up first of this week. We are leaving after the 4th of July weekend is over.
Then over to San Angelo to drop my MIL off with my parents. Then off to Dallas to look for a place to live.
Eventually, we will settle and...
Shack,
I'll add my welcome as well.
We are moving to the Dallas area. NOW. So I'll be lookin to hook up with some MV'ers from the greater DFW areas.
I'm also considering starting my own MV club. I'm gonna call it the MVCC - Military Vehicle Collectors Club.
I even have a logo.
ANYWAY...
What you are talking about is a locking nut. You gotta clean all the old lube out. Then look very carefully at the nut that does not want to come off. You should see a slot in it. WITHIN that slot is a key. That key comes out - it's a square piece of metal that locks the nut to a groove in...
Bman,
I can actually give you ONE reason.
I'm moving from Denver to Dallas fairly shortly. We don't know ANYONE in N. Texas other than a few family member that DO NOT own any MV's.
I am NOT a member of the MVPA (when you meet me, ask me why). So any of the MVPA events, I don't get any...
my FLEXPLATE was cracked in THREE places.
so every time I tried to start my truck, the plate...uh... flexed pretty severely. Caused all sorts of starting problems. When I had the tranny rebuilt, they replaced the flex plate. All those hard starting problems went away.
I've used long threaded bolts - I got the ones that were four inches off and cut them to length. You MIGHT have to put a nut (or two) on the bottom to hold it in place or you might not.
I did that and they work great. A buddy of mine found BOLTS that were the correct length and just used those.
