When sending the info to CARNAC, also include the registration number in addition to the VIN.
Often, you can wet sand the rear and front bumpers and uncover the numbers. That is what I did and mine matched what CARNAC came up with. Make sure you use the correct format exactly as he outlines in...
I haven't heard that, but in some ways that makes sense. In my case I was only going 45 and the A3 decelerated very quickly once the tire blew. I just hung on and steered.
Mine will occasionally stick. I spray the linkage with carb cleaner and manually move it around and it loosens up. I have found that if I exercise the genset once per month, I never have any issues.
Have you tried flashing the generator? Sometimes I need to flash mine to get output, sometimes not. Simply turn the selector to the start position for a few seconds and see if it starts putting out. Sometimes I have to do this several times. Don't worry, the starter will not engage.

You are looking at Off-road diesel. It is the same as regular diesel but is dyed red to show that no road taxes were paid. Be careful - burning that stuff can be expensive if you get caught!
My A3 was sold by GL as a 93. Carmac looked it up and came up with 97. The rear axel tags say 1/23/98 and 1/26/98. The Allison transmission also has a 98 date on it. The engine says 93. I believe mine has a serial number reserved for 97, but was not built until 98. I'm registering it as...

You are doing some fantastic work on that carrier. I loved your pictures. It looks like you will be working on Universal Carriers for a while having two of them. I'm very jealous. Those are very neat vehicles.
Often you can go into a parts store with a large hose selection and find a very similar hose just by comparison. Can you see any numbers on the existing hoses? The hoses are undoubtedly made by a hose manufacturer. With the CAGE number and any other numbers on the hose, you might be able to...
I agree - you have air in the lines. Follow the TM on bleeding as the order you bleed is important When you bleed the brakes be very careful to not let the MC run dry as it doesn't hold much. I would recommend putting together a power bleeder as it will make the job MUCH easier. As...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You'll find a lot of good information here. I love the M37. They were just in the process of phasing them out and replacing them with the M715 when I was in the Army.
