    Updated C7 injector harness PSA

Yeah and if you buy some Amazon or eBay thing who knows if it's pinned correctly and especially for the injector harness the proximity to moving engine parts, being bathed in hot oil - too much potential for it being made incorrectly or of the wrong materials and end up getting sucked into the...

    Updated C7 injector harness PSA

Took me most of a day.... I would guess ~6 hours. That's replacing the entire harness back to the ECM though and removing the riser completely for cleaning and installing the injector harness and replacing the riser and rocker cover gaskets (both the same gasket). Parts aren't cheap. Injector...

    Updated C7 injector harness PSA

I replaced the ECM to engine wiring harness on my 2008 M1079 A1R due to multiple occurrences of connection issues with all three of the pressure sensors - the oil pressure, boost pressure, and atmospheric pressure sensors would throw codes and the boost pressure sensor in particular would put...

    M1078 cracked block

Yeah - as Ronmar eludes to - the 100A unit was a joke. The military is so fed up with the 100A failures they have changed all the engines, even the 3116, over to the 260A earlier this year going forward:

    Diagnostic Readers

The DPA3/4/4+ should work with 12v no problem. I've bench flashed ECM's with 12v, 14.5v, 24v, and 28v and neither the CAT computer nor the DPA seem to care at all.

    Diagnostic Readers

There's really no need to have a second port. You won't need the Bluefire when CAT ET is connected and I'm not even sure the ECM will allow that and/or it may confuse one or the other. Laptop with CAT ET and the DPA and the cables will not be something you want to permanently install. On the...

    M1078 LMTV Transmission pull questions...?

Usually just pull the engine rather than the trans in that scenario. To pull the transmission the military would pull the bed off the truck to gain access. So that's two steps instead of just pulling the engine. While you have the engine out - replace the oil pump and inspect the bell-housing...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

The Dearborn Protocol Adapters (3 and 4/4+) are what I use. Yes they connect to the port next to the battery disconnect switch in front of the driver's left knee. That port is a standard heavy duty diagnostic connection used by all medium and heavy duty truck applications. The DPA-3 uses a...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

WABCO Toolbox: Used with any laptop and a serial Dearborn DPA-III or a USB DPA-IV, or a NEXiQ adapter, etc. Any RP1210 adapter really.

2008 M1078 A1R Maryland to California or Bust!

You can get them for any phone now for under $200: https://www.amazon.com/FLIR-Thermal-Imaging-Camera-Black/dp/B07DM8NMH1/ Only the S62 "Pro" version has the FLIR sensor and the ask on them is steep.

    M1087 vs bridge

The 1087 and 1079 boxes are both massively overbuilt. Way more quality habitat than you can buy on the civilian market.

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

Easiest thing to do is hookup a laptop with WABCO Toolbox and get the codes - it will also read live wheel speed and it's usually immediately apparent what the issue is...... Without talking to the ABS controller there's really no way to know what it's complaining about. Best you can do is guess...

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

Good to know it's that sensitive. Something I'll watch for in future diags. Haven't run into that problem yet with any of the PCU's I've encountered.

2008 M1078 A1R Maryland to California or Bust!

A spritz of brake clean into 6 gallons of oil isn't going to do diddly. Engine heat will evaporate it in a hurry and it wouldn't be enough to change the oil characteristics even if it didn't. My truck has ~13k miles on it. 2k from 2008 to 2019 and 11k from 2019 to today. No leaks.

2008 M1078 A1R Maryland to California or Bust!

These tires don't play that consumer product tire wear game. They are going to wear evenly unless the axles are WAY screwed up. This is heavy duty solid axle land with huge sidewalls. The tire is not going to tip up on an edge and wear down one side like a passenger car or truck - the forces...

2008 M1078 A1R Maryland to California or Bust!

Not really possible RE the bead lock centering. If you see how the wheels are constructed you will understand. People have mixed results with balance beads. Works for some people and not for others. What pressure are you running? Try higher or lower pressure. I have noticed that new tires or...

    Do I have oil pressure?

Yeah - a C7 engine wouldn't run without oil pressure. The HEUI injection wouldn't function.

info on front turn signal wire numbers

No problem - I have had to figure out that wiring on a number of occasions on my truck and others in the Motorpool so I have the wire numbers notated in my phone's digital notepad for quick reference. Tell me the story about your winch/tool box/shackle extension. Haven't seen that before...

    Do I have oil pressure?

It's an O-Ring Boss port. -6 or -8 ORB would be my guess. They use straight threads and the o-ring does the sealing. Plug it back in with some WD-40 or Deoxit and wiggle the connection while the truck is running - it will probably show up on the gauge at least momentarily. If it doesn't - swap...

info on front turn signal wire numbers

No. They only work in the Park position. They are off in every other mode.
