Ah, that explains a few things, Bison. But those are maximum speeds, not minimum.

I remember reading the official procedure in the manual, but not what it was. Since my SEE seems to squirt some into the system every time it's started all by itself there was no reason to occupy valuable space in the brain cell. Cleaning out the receptor was about the only thing I did when...

Alright, who here can help decipher the markings on the doors on my FLU? It reads "E199", and directly below it says "TE004M". Up front is stenciled "AF 93". I'm sure that there's a clue to where it used to live in there.

The parts SEE came with dead batteries, so the routine was to fire up the M1008, hook up the jumper cables and start the SEE. No wrenching on battery terminals required. Or, I could've used a 12-volt vehicle and a separate battery (both batteries in the SEE were toast, so I needed two 12-volt...

If you're willing to skip the convenience of using the NATO plug, don't overlook the fact that you can charge/jump start your FLU with just about any vehicle with a 12 Volt system. Of course, if both of the FLU's batteries need help when jump starting you'd need two 12 Volt vehicles and two sets...

Fresh Cab "smells good to us"? Really? Yeah, there hasn't been any proof of rodent activity since a I tossed the baggies in, but I wouldn't exactly call the smell good. Well, I suppose it largely depends on what the cab smelled like originally. Fresh Cab does smell better than a decaying rat...

I have never tried that Craftsman set on Torx fasteners since I have Torx sockets, in the smaller sizes, but I would imagine that those multi-sockets would work just fine.

Before i finally got around to buy the correct tool, I used a 1/4-inch pass-through ratchet with the 8 mm "splined" socket on the battery box, the kind that's said to work on square, hex and most any fastener. I thinks it was visible in the photos of the battery installation a while back. For...

I remember seeing little rubber knobbies, but no gasket. Not sure I could get the hood to latch if there was a gasket, it's tricky enough to get the little arms to grab when securing the hood as is.

Close, Mr. Hood, but no cigar. As of now anyway, the HMMH only has one strobe light on top, no additional lighting (although all the work lights are changed to LED) and there are two spot mirrors (larger than what is pictured) added. I like the idea of bigger front wheels, though. It would allow...

I must admit that I was holding onto the levers by the knobs only. Surely that would've made all the difference had I snagged the cables.

After looking at the results of the analysis of the "hydraulic fluid" in my SEE (as well as most all of them offered at GP), that 10W oil came out rather quickly. In the process I changed to AW-32, thinking that maybe it was better to run hydraulic fluid in the hydraulics rather than regular...

Mark, you'd be surprised what desulfation can do for aging batteries. From cheap BatteryMINDers to very effective Canadus products, there are several ways to revive old batteries and to keep any battery alive longer. It may be coincidental, but the battery in my Jeep is an Optima deep cycle...

When just sitting with the main switch off, they're just two batteries with individual properties. When you're running the engine (charging) they are both happier, but it's not perfect. It's if you leave the master switch on with the engine off that the batteries' differences have an effect...

Thanks, FOD. Hearing that saved me from the hassle of pouring the old 10W back in again.

From what I heard, it's irrelevant who won them. The price went up so high that it'd be cheaper to burn dollar bills in the cab for warmth.

Adapting 419 SEE To Drive Other Attachments Thread

How about a hydraulic setup that supposedly drives the vehicle? Anybody have a source for information on this lump?

One thing I forgot to mention is that there are two versions of the Group 31 Optimas. One has regular battery terminals, which allows using the original battery cables, and the other has the better 5/16" studs that would require modifying the cables.

Mark, I've read about people getting the stock batteries at NAPA, and for a decent price. I don't like messing with filling batteries, so I got Optima group 31s from Amazon, and they fit very well after removing the sliding mechanism and a (poorly) spot welded bracket in the rear. A simple...
