Instead of drilling a hole in the roof, mount those switches into the panel that is UNDER the steering wheel. It comes out. Making it very easy to drill holes for switches or to HOLD switch panels in place. That's where I'm mounting the switch for my Whelen whoopee lights as soon as I can...
samuri,
GREAT LOOKING M1009. I've also got one with 14k miles on it.
You need to black out the Chevy symbol on the FRONT of the truck. Also paint the front portion of the HOOD ORNAMENT black as well. NO CHROME on these babies.
And WHERE did you get a HMMWV? I've got a guy in Germany that...
If you are going to cut METAL fuel line, wrap it with a couple of layers of tape (I use the blue stuff). That way your cut will be a bit smoother and it will protect the edge of the metal tube you are cutting.
HH,
Here is a gear ratio calculator:
Gear Ratio Calculator
Your M1028 should have a TH400 transmission, NP208 transfer case, and 4.56 gear ratio. Armed with that info and your tire size, you will be able to figure out what rpm your engine is turning at what mph.
I've run my M1028A2 over 60...
Actually there is a spot up under the passenger side floor board. That's the spot he's talking about.
There is actually about a six - eight inches of rubber fuel hose that connects the two METAL fuel lines together.
Cut that out, put the pump there. Run power to the fuel pump. Mine comes on...
I LOVE IT!!!
I'm so glad you folks went to the banquet. Great time to meet the warriors, old and new.
John, I can't thank you enough.
And my Mom took a roll of film. When she gets it developed in the next few days, she's sending me a cd with all the pix on them.
SO, hopefully I can add to...
YES. you need some form of ability to bleed the fuel filter or you will NEVER keep your vehicle running properly with constant air TRAPPED in the fuel filter.
So make sure that you can bleed it and KNOW HOW. Otherwise it's a wasted conversion
I disagree.
It's worth MAYBE $3k. TOPS
I know loads of folks here would love to see you SELL IT FOR $5k. But if could get that, you would NOT be here asking how much is it worth.
Honestly, it's a nice truck.
But $5k?
Here's what $5500 got me from Gov Liq one year ago. 14k miles with...
Your fuel filter backing plate is probably shot and leaking air. It is FOR SURE leaking fuel.
You can get the bracket/backing plate w/sensors/and a new fuel filter. All for $75 (ish) shipped. It will probably solve several problems.
When you check them, clean them all. Including the connectors that attach them to the wiring harness. You are talking a piece that has probably had oil leaked all over it for quite a few years.
After clean, then if you still have problems, you probably have air in your fuel. This happens...
Your fuel filter backing plate is LEAKING AIR.
You can find a complete replacement on ebay for like $75 shipped. Includes a new bracket, a new backing plate with two of the sensors (third one is no longer produced and it is blocked off), a new filter.
Pull the old one off. Put the new on...
Chevy GMC 6.2,6.5 6.5L TURBO Diesel Injector Nozzles - eBay (item 160448681145 end time Nov-21-10 06:45:06 PST)
You have to TELL THEM which tip you want - 6.2 Marine - but these guys are in Texas and charge $62
NO, I'm not affliated with them. I'm considering this exact upgrade.
The CUCV engine is a stronger variant than the Civy one. I KNOW. I popped a rear main seal out of my 1988 Suburban 6.2L - and it was a civy. A civy replacement back in the late 1990's was $6k. Plus install.
I can name several places that would sell you a running CUCV 6.2L 'J' code engine...
I was driving from San Angelo to Denver EARLY Tuesday morning, 11/2/10 and I SAW those two deuces on the semi going south. I wondered who had purchased them. THEY WERE NICE LOOKING FOR SURE.
But I was on a mission...
Here my thread about MY DAD, the rockstar...
