You guys have a great time. Say HI! to my Mom, Dad, sister, BIL, niece, nephew and several friends that live there.
If you have the time, they do have a GREAT banquet in San Angelo and the folks go out of their way to make you welcome.
Again, thanks John. I'm planning the rebuild of my...
Check the ground switch up under the dash. Drivers side. There should be a double prong attached to the side wall. It is up a bit, so a small flashlight is helpful. IF it is connected, pull it off and clean the connector. When I did, the wire came off the connector. OH, so that may be my...
tfg,
WELCOME to SS Mat.
Great start. You do know that the only CURE for green iron disease is to buy another one. First two pix are at the airshow our club attended this year. The third pix is two in my driveway.
So we will be seeing pix any time now, RIGHT?
Take your time and take it easy. Then you can have YEARS to enjoy it. So take your time.
And take LOADS of pix.
The aluminum BACKING PLATE starts to leak air over the years. It might make a whistle sound at highway speeds.
That's why I suggested swapping out the whole bracket. Again, you can find them on ebay. about $75 shipped.
You can crack a fuel line at the injector and have someone else turn it...
It was long ago and there was a woman involved and ...
IT WAS LONG AGO... (all my ex's live in Texas ... running through my mind right now)
I lived in Houston.
I got to visit Golden, Colorado in both winter and summer. Then I moved to Colorado.
1978 I think. LONG TIME AGO...
But I've...
Your fuel filter backing plate is leaking air would be my guess.
You can get a new one on Ebay for about $75 shipped with filter.
Solved ALL SORTS of running issues with mine. Especially hard starting. Difficult to start a vehicle that's not getting solid fuel delivery.
Have someone rev the...
Awww, come on out to Colorado.
Still COLD here. Still SNOWS here but not near the humidity.
Registration is a breeze. You get your title in about six to eight weeks.
And you don't have to PUT them ON the truck. You have to have thme IN the truck, you know in case some LEO wants to see...
The chain has some kind of gold anodized on it...
But after I've used it a while it's all gone and you've got a plain steel chain. There are numerous ways to coat it.
paint
powder coat
heavy anodized
and numerous other methods, the ones I listed above are but a few...
Well if you have a LOWES any where near by, here is the one I purchased for like $40...
Shop Campbell Commercial 5/16" x 20' Tow Hook Chain at Lowes.com
And if this is against the rules, mods please delete this post...
And all I know is that in the winter, the less time my hands are outside...
GM72k10,
I disagree...
YOUR TRUCK DOESN'T LOOK BETTER, IT LOOKS GREAT.
And trust me, you gonna LOVE this one. I know I love mine.
Something about owning a truck most folks have never seen.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. It pays dividends that you won't expect.
Is it an A2 or an A3?
Yeah, and the OLDER YOU GET the worse trying to find things you've misplaced gets.
I'm 57 so I'm about half way down the 'old folks road' so to speak...
And I do understand that concern about coming off the front of the truck. But I've worked very hard at making that difficult at best. You...
Midnight Rider,
I too would like to know that.
I have two M1009's. The one I just got had air shocks installed. And it came from Gov Liq. It makes the truck 'stand up' and is definitely a much better driving/riding vehicle than the one I've owned for four years.
Great question.
Thule makes rack systems for vehicles. For an M1009 you will need one that attached to the gutter. Bar length is 58" and any shorter and it won't actually fit on the truck. I got mine off of Craigslist here in Denver for $100 for the pair. They were sold in pairs - you need two of them if...
b_g_y,
I would LOVE to find a 6.5 in a yard. Trouble is around here in Denver, those things get snapped up fairly quickly.
And I LOVE the girdle you made. It should strengthen the bottom end a ton...
Still watching. Sorry for the temp hijack. I will stop doing that. MY APOLOGIES.
OK, all you diesel mechanics.
IF the MARINE built 6.2L was built at 18:1 instead of 20/21:1 when I do my build could I rebuild it to the LOWER compression ratio specs?
Not sure of the ramifications either.
Not trying to flame anyone, just trying to find my way through the diesel jungle...
Chief,
SEE, the MARINE application was different.
I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH. You give me encouragement to continue in search of low cost power.
Now, I will say one thing about ANY bump in HP.
YOUR MPG will drop like a stone. Especially if you just can't resist twisting the tail as it were...
That chain? It's there when one of our club members vehicle dies at a parade. That way SOMEONE can tow it to safety. I also have a 30' 30 ton tow strap, tree strap, blah, blah, blah - you guys know the routine. IF I'm driving my dually, I sometimes throw the medium tow bar in the back.
NO...
