I need some help getting my M37 on the road. Trans, brakes, steering

g741.org ==> their forums should have a LOT more information, especially in the realm of transmissions and the disc brake questions.

    radiator question

What's the water level in the radiator? What was the temp gauge reading when this occurred? I do not believe this is a normal occurrence. Have you driven the truck before recently? Was this the first time you've driven it since you've done anything to the radiator or coolant? If you have...

    Dusenhoff?

It's an M35A2 with M35A3 rims to facilitate the mounting of super-single tires. This guy is just writing what he thinks he heard: Dusenhoff= Deuce and a half (say it, it'll make sense). He also seems to think that it has a "super single winch." oops!

    Deuce - 1, Honda Passport - 0

BOCKSTRUCK as opposed to BOCKSCAR just freehand a Honda "H" on the cowl right there and you'll be set.

just make sure you keep the combat locks on on the doors.

FYI, this is just a generic picture of what a pre-deuce-collision Passport would look like:

New Green Iron Owner...5 ton is home

Nice truck. With that truck, you're gonna want to stick with the stock size tire (not necessarily stock-type NDTs tires) as there ain't any power to spare with these trucks, especially on any sort of a grade. Look forward to seeing your progress with it. Remember, start off slow and away from...

Mine's got a muffler, so I don't need to wear earplugs.

    Deuce Introduction

I did about a 100 miles round trip in mine today, starting at 0530 in the morning, and getting home just recently. While you aren't going to be accelerating up hills, and you aren't going to peal out of an intersection like a sports car, these trucks are simply big pickup trucks. The majority...

not getting emails on incoming PMs

Same here, no emails and two PMs so far. Not worried about it here, I'm sure they'll get it fixed ASAP. Just wanted to let the SS staff know. If it matters, my account sends the emails to my Gmail account.

USMC6062 made a really nice one... I'll have to dig to find the thread.

    M-37 vs M-37B1

I think they switched to a different style of connector, I'm probably wrong, though. BTW the engine was T245 and T245A, not 215 (Yes, I'm being nitpicky, but that's just the way I am)

    M-37 vs M-37B1

M37 has the spare tire carrier moved to a hinged hanger on the driver's side door that has to be opened before the door itself can be opened. Mostly minor changes aside from that. A B1 can be distinguished even without the spare tire mount on the door by the bolts/bolt holes in a vertical line...

    Should I buy this M37?

If you want something to drive on the highway, you need a CUCV. The M37 is a lot of things, but not a highway truck.

    Should I buy this M37?

Ditto on the second one. It's got the winch- a $1700 value. I wouldn't change anything from stock, in my opinion. It was engineered to work in a particular configuration, and changing that just screws things up.

    troop seat primer

I'd assume use an outdoor wood primer... a couple coats of that then sand and slap the Gillespie down on top of that.

I wanted to pick your brains and see if you could help me with what could be a major

the handbrake is covered in TM9-2320-209-20-3-2, the 2nd portion of the Deuce Organizational Maintenance Manual.

I wanted to pick your brains and see if you could help me with what could be a major

Also, to clear up the Sprag Transfer-case confusion: The sprag transfer-case automatically engages the front axle when the rear axles loose traction. This is used on all M39/M54 series 5 tons and all M809 5 tons, as well as some older, non-rebuilt deuces. The airshift transfer-case uses a...
