What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replanned my lightbar/brake light setup. I got yelled at for my 'brake lights being too high', by a county mounty.... State Patrol showed up and said it wasn't a big deal.. But, apparently, I got 'talked to' about impersonating a cop........ In a 30 y/o truck.... With army markings...

    Suggested air tank size?

I'll have one of those too, eventually... Basically want a self sustained camper type platform with proper tools. At first I thought I'd go 24V tools, but realized the cost and availability was all but none. You can pick up decent air tools for dirt cheap, AND if I gotta have air for my...

    Suggested air tank size?

I thought it'd be undersized for a larger truck.. but the M1010 is just 5/4 ton... Still too small? Suggestions on tank size/electric pump? PTO is out of the question (I think)

    Suggested air tank size?

I got an M1010, wanted to get air horns but figured if I'm getting a tank, I might as well use it for onboard systems, including airing up tires, air tools, etc.. Wanna keep some common air tools so I can do work in the field kind of stuff... Any suggestions on how much I'd need for rare/random...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I always wondered why those trucks didn't have more than one port.. It would seem that in some situations it wouldn't be feasible to nose to nose the ports...

    M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan "B"

Just an FYI, the alternator I got was not a direct fit. I did have to grind down the alternator bracket a fraction of an inch so it would go down far enough to allow the belt around the pulley. The factory 24V are almost completely round, whereas the replacement had some square corners on it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

After many cusswords, a couple of hours, some grinding, and a broken finger, I managed to get a 12V 'drop in' alternator into my M1010, methinks there might be different alternator brackets in use on some vehicles, and I drew the short stick... Ugh..

I will be bringing my stencil machine and my laptop. Anyone who needs stencils, I will make them, no charge. All I need is an AC power source ;) I am somewhat limited in size, as it can only do 8.5x11, but if you need longer stencils, I can make multiple pages and you can tape them together.

I custom made mine... :D I bought a stencil maker on ebay, basically a USB printer except it cuts stencils instead... Best $60 I ever spent!

Check your oil. Pray there's no coolant in it. Also, check your heater core, you can usually smell a bit of coolant in the cab when it starts to leak (remember the CV? LOL)

(WA) To 'Collector Vehicle' or not?

Well, to update the situation...... Walked into Pierce County Auditor's office/annex with plates and 2000's tabs. The lady behind the counter took 2 minutes to verify they were the correct color, and gave me a new registration showing they were permanent, no renewal, and ......no tabs...

changed the oil and dropped the trans pan/drained/replaced filter on the M1010. Weird thing is... there was almost no odor from the trans fluid, and it was still a reddish pink, with almost no particles on the magnet in the pan... But, it had been sitting for at least 6 years so, out it went...

My M1010 LIVES! Good/Bad. Took it to a shop, had them go over it with a fine tooth comb... They got it started... The IP had some crud it in, some stuck seals, and a leaking seal. They didn't R&R the IP because I told them not to. It's got a tiny leak at the throttle line, but I was told it...

    Diesel additives

If it's filtered properly, yes. I use a filtration system comprised of descending filters, from 30 micron to 1 micron, and run it through twice, before I dump it into my tank. I run 50% WMO, as an additive, hehehe.... cuts my diesel fuel consumption in half and doubled my MPG on D2! :D Now...
