Its easier to see when your filter is off. It is behind the filter and has 2 wires coming in from the side to a round plug. Air can leak past that. If you remove it you probably will have to seal the hole behind it or get another base. Do a search on the different ways others have solved it. The...
I would like to know what causes this because I've had it too. One battery clean the other covered in white powder. I've had it thick under the rubber coating also.
Get rid of the 10 bolt. Get the gearing you want in a 14 bolt. SF or FF either will be a big improvement. Keep the 10 bolt if you like small tires and light towing. 35's are too big.
If there is an asteroid on its way, do you think our Gov't would tell us?
I think, for what its worth, its just the end of their calendar. The day after that they start a new one. I was going to say they then get to slit the throats of a bunch of young virgins to celebrate, but I better not.
Guys put a manual switch for the glow plugs on when their glow plug controller card goes bad. Instead of auto glow plug operation with the card it becomes manual with a switch and your finger tip. Do a search it has been well documented and easy to do.
NH, The trans is slipping bad and the oil is burnt. The rad was half full so I'm thinking the trans cooler wasn't doing much cooling. The engine may have gotten hot but not fried like the trans. It seems to run as usual. I'll know more when I get the truck running again. I'll probably put the...
Thanks Bill for that info. I do have a turbo 350 with a broken case that came out of a 77 chevy 4x4. If the spline count works would that be a swap possibility to make it work?
Thanks again,
Greg
I'll be looking at a 2wd 700r4 for sale. It is in a 91 1500 6.2 the engine is bad. Will the 2wd 700r4 be a good swap into a m1009? Does anyone know what the spline count is on this trans. Can the tailshaft housing be changed? Will I need to look for a different TC? My daughter fried her turbo...
I would order those bolts in the softest grade. I just removed a bumper and it was a PITA. I wish they would have twisted off. If somebody hits you back there the bolts won't make a difference anyway.
Use the belt that is correct for your application for sure. The belt #'s are posted all over this site. I was amazed at how worn out my pulley was. I'm checking the pulley whenever I have to replace a belt.2cents
The problem I ran into was my pulley was worn out from slipping belts. I tried tightening it, but all it would do is squeal after startup no matter how tight it got. I stretched out belts and ruined an alt bearing before I replaced the pulley. That cured it. With the belt on the pulley its hard...
Has anyone used an AC radiator as a trans cooler? It would be a really large cooler. Can you cool too much? If one of these was used should it be turned off in winter or when your not towing? How much pressure does the transmission pump thru the stock cooler lines? I saw that the lines are a...
I'll check with a driveline service to see what that runs. I see trucks being parted out all the time so I thought I'd see if there was a compatible swap. Thanks
Mine has forklift damage, hence the bent driveline. I thought it might be cheaper to find a good used one. Finding a good straight one and putting new on it would probably save also. Thanks
Are the M1008 and M1031 drivelines the same length? I know they have different transfer cases. I would guess that the u-joints are the same.
Are there any civilian vehicles that have the same length of driveshaft even if the u-joints are different?
Thanks
Yes, inside the case. Remove the oil fill neck and you can see the 3 bolts and pin.
I moved the timing back so the marks line up and it seems to run even better. Thats where I'll leave it. I'm betting that the guys living with a slightly rough idle that cleans up and runs smooth when they give...
