The arctic heaters don't have to cost $700-1000. If you get the main heater unit, and a control box, you can piece the rest together from common stuff. I got a heater unit for $60 and a box for $45. Figure I need the fuel pump, lines, control cable and ducting which I can get local for...
Yea, if it runs or could possibly run, BUY IT NOW!! $6000 is a very good deal for a wrecker.
Does it come with any goodies i.e. towbar, slave cable, chains etc.?
take some pics and post em up!!:-P
In NM you can go get the VIN verified by the State Police and they will run a check to see if its stolen, then you can go to the insurance company ( I use Allstate) and get a surety bond, take all that to the DMV and get a title.
Cost - $100 for the bond and whatever DMV charges
My M816 has the Jake brake on it, the hood has been modified by the military to make it fit.
Can anyone explain how its supposed to work? I have not been able to get my air pressure up so I was thinking it might have to do with the Jake brake?
Someone more knowledgeable than me correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the priming pump just put fuel in the intake and not actually "prime" the fuel system? I think its just a cold start aid?
Have you tried reading some of the posts on here in the deuce section? There is a wealth of information on here if you spend some time looking. ( notice I mentioned nothing about searching !!:-P)
Nope you are not correct. If the picture above is your engine then it is an LDS not an LDT, Its the same block but the internals are slightly different for more power.
A M543 is a gas version, the A1 is a Mack and the A2 is the LDS multifuel version.
To move a wrecker 900 miles should not cost you more than $1800. $3500 is $4 per mile and thats a little ridiculous. I got my M816 moved over 800 miles for $1500 and that was with a RGN trailer. Put a listing on Uship and see what bids you get.
Just tell me where it is and I can get it shipped to me :-D Just kidding.
If you look in the tech manual section there is a TACOM manual that gives the dimensions and weights on all the MV's.
Off of the top of my head, an M543A1 weighs about 36,000lbs and is about 23' long x 8' wide x 10' high.
