Just wire the hot wire thru the switch. It would do the same thing ...you still would need a key to start it and you wouldn't have to bybass any original equipment. Here's a link to a great diagram...

You can buy an adaptor housing to fit the Ford trans. IMHO, The Ford is better than the Chrysler. Let me see if I can dig up a Cummins p/n for it.

RE: Thanks Sometimes the mechanical parts in the starter get dry or rusty if you run in alot of water, If you get stuck somewhere and it does the click, click thing, you can give the starter some love taps with a hammer and it will get you up and running again.

Great news on your health! As for 12 volts, why do you want to change it over? The lights don't go out any faster than the lights in older cars. Just buy an xtra one, so you have it in case one does go out. The civi Signal Stat controller won't have the BO or the park lights.

Anyone have an idea if this is a military trailer?
