When ever I get a tranny rebuilt one of the things I always have installed is a tranny cooler.
You should be able to pick a good one up for less than $50. Gotta have hoses. I believe every time I've had it done, they connect onto the transmission hose going into the radiator.
One cut, slide...
OK, SCRATCH THAT.
DUMB DUMB (me) forgot to put the transfer case back into 2WD. WORKS GREAT. Brakes, turn signals, power steering, tranny, EVERYTHING SEEMS PERFECT.
And it has a full tank of fuel. I'm getting ready to add some additive to the engine after changing the oil, additive in the...
Nope. Just unlocked the steering column and put the transfer case in NEUTRAL and the front hubs to free and away we went.
Did NOT have a problem what so ever. And I have had an M1009 that was flat towed from Georgia in the exact same manner. RUNS GREAT.
I did get the truck to start. Runs...
I won my second M1009 a few weeks ago on this auction out of Ft Riley...
2320 - Trucks & Truck Tractors, Wheeled at Government Liquidation
I got my EUC processed in two weeks and made my appointment. Ft Riley is 500 miles one way from my home here in Denver.
I drove my M1028A2 out. NO...
If this is your FIRST EUC it could take as long as three months, though these days the first one seems to take about six to eight weeks AT most.
I recently purchased an M1009 and the EUC cleared in two weeks. But I've purchased TONS of stuff from GL.
MAKE SURE you have filled out the EUC form...
OK,I GOTTA add my two cents.
I use Gulfway Insurers out of Florida. The policy is ACTUALLY carried by Travelers (I think).
Now, Gulfway insures COLLECTOR vehicles.
They insured my deuce when I had it.
I have my M1009, M1028 and my M101a1 trailer ALL on the same policy. It's like just under...
A LOT of the dents were caused by GL.
BUT a severely dented roof is NOT one of them. I bought an M1031 and it's roof was so badly dented, I would have had to cut it off and put a new one in place. I COULD NOT get the interior sheet metal to bang back out. So I sold it.
OH, I have about a...
There are two (three?) relays under the dash. Once I changed both of mine, several minor issues were resolved. They are not expensive being less than ten buck at the auto store I went to.
There is one attached to the wiring of the circuit of the gp module. But hey, if you are going to...
OOH, OOOH, I gotta 'cheat' for the sand paper part.
Use an Emery Board. WORKS GREAT. Stays stiff for a while ( NO JOKES).
Just don't tell your WIFE why you took it OR what you will be using it for. I also have a skin scrubber that is similar in size to an emery board (looks like pumice to...
Yeah, I want to add the spare saddle tank AND the rear fuel tank in my M1028A2.
That should give me 80 gallons (ish) which SHOULD give me a range of 800 - 1200 miles, depending on my speed an my load.
How much paint did you use? Which color did you use?
I'm considering painting my M1009 & M1028A2 in the coming months. Might not be until next year. Have not really started the research cycle on the paint.
Any info you can share would be appreciated.
IF you don't mind me asking, how much (roughly) did you spend for that and how much are the filters? It's ALWAYS good to have a second option.
thx in advance.
Uh...
M1031 two years ago - out of Ft Bliss
M1028A2 last year - out of Ft Drum
M101A2 this year - out of Ft Carson
That's about it.
OOPS, NOT TRUE. I also bought two lots of med chests two years ago and I've sold all of them. And this year I got a lot of camo support poles - 36 sets of...
I can't wait. It's going next to my M1028A2 that currently has just short of 17k miles on it. I drove it from the east coast (came out of Ft Drum) to Denver, that bumped the 13.5k miles up to just under 16k. In the past year, I've put just under 1k miles on it.
So this is right in that ball...
Check LMC trucks. YOU CAN actually fit the 40 gallon DIESEL tank out of a Suburban of like year between the frame rails.
You WILL have to purchase a longer strap and longer bolts. But for the skid plate, it does fit, you again just need longer hardware.
Buddy of mine did it. Said it...
Not meaning to ask a stupid question, but WHAT are you attempting to put a dimmer switch in?
The only interior light SHOULD be attached to the light switch. IT HAS A DIMMER SWITCH BUILT IN.
So if your dash lights and your interior light don't dim, your switch is probably either dirty or bad.
OK, here yah go. This is the auction I won and I got the paid invoice in less than two weeks.
I've got two weeks to go get it (July 14th).

On the off chance that link does not work, it was a 1983 M1009 with the lowest miles...
