Quick new guy fuel filter question?

I am one of those folks. GO over to ebay. There is a guy that sells the whole assembly. Bracket, plate, filter. Just transfer two of your sensors and then install it. SOLVED ALL SORTS of problems for me. Plus the square fuel filters only cost about $10 each. I have YET to have to change...

    Seat covers for M1009

I must say I LOVE my Smittybilt GEAR seat covers. Molle attachments ALL over the place and they come with several different sized pouches. They are way kewl. And I know for a fact a least one SF unit uses them in all the trucks they drive with bucket seats in them. Sorry for the quality of...

    Speedo Bounce

2Duece, Is your ground wire in good shape? It's up on the side wall on the drivers side. What you are describing sounds like a bad ground. I'll give you it COULD be a bad gauge OR a bad sending unit, but you make it sound like the fuel gauge was OK prior to disassembling the dash, so I just...

    My M1009 Problems!!!

Jerchambers, I live in Denver and own both an M1009 and an M1028A2 dually. If you want to 'look at' a running, correctly set up (IE 24v) CUCV, I have two you can look at. I'd also gladly help if I can. Also, we have an MV club here in Colorado. Military Vehicle Collector of Colorado's aka...

    Speedo Bounce

Mine did that occasionally. It was also either 10 mph over (M1009) OR 10 mph under (M1028A2). I had both of them rebuilt at a local shop here. It wasn't cheap. But they are not only dead bang on, but they no longer 'bounce' at all.

    M1009 interior pics

ANY Suburban center console will fit. Plus you can paint them with vinyl paint and they will match your interior. I pick them up a salvage yards for about $20 each.

Are these normal glow plug issues?

Maybe I can help with this particular problem, as I had one very similar to this. First off, do your valve covers leak at all? And I mean AT ALL? Because one of the things I found was that I was CONSISTENTLY having to cycle my glow plugs three or four times before the engine would heat up...

Are these normal glow plug issues?

YES. It can be considered normal. But you have not actually described any true problem other than it doesn't start and now it 'clicks' and the voltage drops. The voltage drops are the glow plugs being turned on and off. And that click sounds just like the one in both my M1009 and my...

    Transmission question

Consider just swapping out the TH400 with the NV4500 (i think that's the number). Gives you a five speed manual. I've seen one an it works well.

looking for an engine-to-trans case rod

The overall idea of this rod is that it supports the weight of the transfer case to keep weight off the end of the tranny. Unsupported, the weight CAN snap the tailshaft right off the transmission. Ask me HOW I know this. When I got my tranny rebuilt, my guy took what looks like about 1.25"...

PLEASE, please, please use the search function - no horn

Great point. I never use general search, always go to 'advanced search' and search BY specific forum. It has made a HUGE difference in searching.

PLEASE, please, please use the search function - no horn

OK, my M1028A2 lost lights (all of them) and horn while I was driving around the other day. I checked ALL of the fuses. They checked out OK on my multimeter. But I knew it was one of those fuses. So I used the search function. Several different variations of 'electrical problems', 'no...

    Earliest manufacture date of CUCV

OOOH, I'd love to get a link for THAT site. Being able to look this stuff up is a huge fascination for me. Thx Stihl... I'd heard much higher numbers for the CUCV line...

    Earliest manufacture date of CUCV

M1009? I've got one that's dated 8/84. I was wondering what was the EARLIEST the M1009 was manufactured.

CUCV Bucket Seats - Some ???s

The M1010 seats are WIDER than the M1009. I have NOS for both sets of seats. Trust me. The M1010 upholstery is wider.

    A BRAND NEW M1010 for $14k?!?!?!

Let's take the 100k assumption... The ONLY problem with that is the REST of the trucks interior belies it being used AT ALL. LOOK at the seats. DUDE, my upholsterer has problems getting it that good with NOS upholstery I gave him. It's difficult to get ALL the details correct. Also, look at...

    A BRAND NEW M1010 for $14k?!?!?!

Nah, it was probably just parked at a National Guard Armory hanger/motor pool type of thing. And those SEATS! They have not been sat in much in the past 26 years, that's for sure.

    ATF mixed with diesel

If you want to keep your IP and injectors clean, add acetone to your fuel. 1 oz per ten gallons of fuel (gas or diesel). Acetone In Fuel Said to Increase Mileage I've used it for more than ten years now. In gas or diesel, I get better mpg and BOTH my CUCV's run quieter and get better MPG...

I don't know who won it, but someone got a M1010 with 73 miles on it. They paid $12,300 Out of California. Ok, by the time they pay the GL 10% fee and the taxes, it will be around $14k. But dang man, SOMEONE GOT A 1984 BRAND NEW M1010. For $14K!!! Take a look at the auction. Check out the...

    Buying a M1008

Gear Ratio Calculator I sold a buddy of mine a M1031. He swapped in 3.55's (3.54?) and runs seventy all day long. Cost him $800 and HIS old carrier bearing and gears. Which he gladly paid.
