Is there an air operated power steering unit available?

I'm not sure exactly how the Air-O-Matic system works, but for the manual steering box, the Deuces all have manual steering boxes unless they have a hydraulic or air-o-matic system installed. So it theoretically could be made to fit. The end I'd be worried about is how the steering arms and...

    Mudfest

Re: RE: Mudfest Don't think so, at least not on this board. You can do it on most others, now. looks like you had fun! Glad you didn't get muddy or anything... that'd be a shame.

    11.00-20's on a Deuce....

RE: 11.00-20 I am a newbie to tires, and this seems the opportune moment: Is the "11.00x20" rating in reference to the inside diameter of the tire (the outside of the wheel), then?

    Receiver hitch for a deuce

Aye, just put it up as high as it will go, and just use drop hitches to get down to the height you need. Save you some trouble off road...

    Deuce Steering Wheel Cracks.....?

If you are a non-purist, ultra-functional person like me, you'd just wrap it a couple times around with black electrical tape. I've done that with my tractors, and it has lasted (so far) for 20 some-odd years. It also thickens the steering wheel (maybe not necessary in this case) to facilitate...

    Muffler madness

Re: RE: Muffler madness Mufflers are nice. You can have conversations in the cab whilst driving... and even going up a grade.

    And that's what counts!

    Two airhorns....

Be sure to restrict the air pressure on them. Otherwise you'll deafen yourself and cause a wreck. They're audible for about 20 miles... something like what these folks make (a restrictor plate on the manifold, basically) http://www.microprecisiongroup.com/shop/

    Quiet cab?

RE: Re: Quiet cab? Also, if you can get a canvas shifter boot that goes over the whole bottom of the shifter column and seals in the hole in the access floor panel, that keeps the hot air from blowing up off the engine and transmission/transfer case and right up into the cab.

    Bees - Ouch....

Aye, yellow jackets are fun. I found two separate nests 5 minutes apart from each other while mowing, and 5 of them caught me. Just wait till dark, that's when they're quiet. Use a red LED flashlight, if I remember, that doesn't piss 'em off quite as much. (When searching for the nest.) Oh...

    7 1/2 TONS OF FUN

Well, seeing as your M62 weighs upwards of 22k and the deuce (nice truck, by the way) weighs about 13, that's technically 17.5 tons of fun! The more the merrier!

    Someone save this 53 GMC

Nice catch. And I agree with Mr. Leather... there are some trucks that you just don't mod. Blow a couple thousand on a modern deuce to haul the kids in....

    New Iron

Nice deuce. Like the tires. nice M37. Everybody should have one of them. It's one of the essential 3 MVs: 1/4 ton, 3/4 ton, and 2 1/2 ton.

The Official '08 SS Ga Rally info thread

Buy it low, stack it high! It works with ammo, so just fill up jerry cans and do the same with fuel. If anything, next time you are in a state with high fuel prices (5.17 or so in NY) you can sell it for cheap and still make a profit

    M37s and their trannys

RE: Re: RE: M37s and their trannys The transmission is essentially a 3 speed, with a 1st thats too low for on-road use, but perfect for heavy pulling. Similar to the M151 Transmission in theory. One will also find that on most M37s, 2nd is a PITA to shift through, whether going up or down (from...
