Has anyone here gone to the trouble to take a winch-less truck, and install the winch extensions, PTO, winch, bumper, etc. in order to upgrade to the winch variety? Got pics? Just want to see how much of a PITA the whole process is....
The temp gauge on my deuce doesn't work. Gauge looks like new, and I don't see any reason why the sending unit would be bad. However, I did notice some wiring that could be the problem. The wire going to the sending unit looks like it got too close to the exhaust manifold one time, and melted...
Okay, two deuces here, two more on the way, I need to make some room. I will be listing my 1970 AMG M35A2 w/w in the classifieds. My images are too big, so I have to resize them, but I will do it this evening. Runs and drives great (it towed another deuce back from PA), everything works...
Okay, question for ya'll. I'm watching an episode of Ice Road Truckers now, the horn blast at the beginning of the show got me thinking about replacing the deuce horn (that sounds more like a boat horn than a truck horn) with a real semi truck air horn, with a nice HONK HONNNK tone to it...
Anyone know what type of wire is used in military radio cables, such as the ones for the VRC-12 series? I have some scrap cabling from damaged cables of this series, and was removing the rubber shielding from them today with a blade, and it wasn't copper colored, but rather silver or aluminum...
Okay, I did it again! I bought a couple more deuces and a couple more trailers from the Chambersburg PA site. God help me!
My 1970 winch truck will hit the classifieds on SS soon, need to make room for the new toys.
Anyways, I got better deals this time than last go-around! Two M35A2...
I want to modify the deuces I have with the 90 degree mod to the intake pipe, to prevent rain water from entering the intake. I remember seeing a few SSers post pics of their rides with this mod. Where can I get the correct 90 degree pipe for this application? I've seen really wide turn pipes...
And it's not genetic.
Anyways, noticed on my deuces that there is a hose that hangs down from the bottom of the turbo, on the winch truck the hose hangs below the front axle and seems to have exhaust coming out of it. On the non-winch truck, there is no hose at all mounted to the bottom of the...
Okay, been wanting to post this for several weeks, but haven't really had the time to compose a long winded thread. However, at 1:30am on Monday morning, I do now.
A few months back I posted pics of some old ambulance sirens I got from Colemans scrapyard in PA. I got a PM from a Steel Soldier...
Okay, started doing research on my two new rides. Here's the bumper markings off my deuces:
1970 M35A2 w/w
left: 42I 50MSB (NJARNG, 42nd Infantry Div., 50th Mechanized Support Brigade)
right: B-108 (B Company, Truck # 108)
1968 M35A2 wo/w
left: 230ASG 230SIG (TNARNG, 230th Area Support...
May be going up to Chambersburg on Thursday to preview trucks and trailers in the next vehicle auction. If anyone wants me to look at something for themselves, please let me know the lot numbers and I'll look at them.
Oh, sorry guy - I won't be stopping at Mechanicsburg PA.
Saw this on Craigslist. What model is this? Looks like a M105 that lost it's bed. Price is right.

This is really moot, since I no longer own my old M416 trailer. However, I never figured out why this happened, and want to find out from you guys.
I had a 1996 Dakota that I loved, bought a M416 trailer in 1998 to ride behind it. Restored the trailer, owned it for several years, sold it in...
Went up to Letterkenny, PA on Thursday morning with a towbar and some lights (thanks, Jeff!) and rigged up the deuces for towback. Checked the winch truck, started right up and ran great in the lot, checked all the fluids and the air pressue/oil pressure/etc. and made sure I had on clean...
Okay, since I am about to join the ranks of deuce owners, there is some terminology that I have yet to understand. Please define the following for me since I am new to big trucks and am learning. Thanks,

Torque Rod
Found this thread over at M715Zone.com, but there's some MV stuff in there that is not M715 related. I saw M211s, a M35 with convoy lights, some trailers, an M37, looks like a lubrication trailer unit, and a few 401 Unimogs that were discussed here recently.
Here's the link to the thread that...
