Just as a side note, most, if not all diesel engines can run a small amount of "oil" fuel - from tranny fluid to motor oil. Just make sure its clean and run a small amount at first to find out how much it can and can't take.
Yep, Jack sells vehicles. I talked to him a few years ago about a M246 tractor wrecker. He said he would fix it up to military standards with new tires for about $16,000 with the LDS engine.
Don't expect a super deal but he is very nice to deal with.
What kind/tread on the 14.00's? I have heard ( no experience myself) that the higher the pressure should result in a better ride/control.

Here is a one thought on the moderators - make their name appear different (color,font, whatever) in the list of people online on the side of the screen. That way people know who and when they are online.
Someone more knowledgeable than me can tell you for sure, but I believe the 5 ton trans is a SAE #3 or #2 so you would need the correct adapter/bell-housing to mate it up along with the correct flywheel and clutch.

SBC oil pump, coupler and a 24 volt scooter motor. Cheaper and faster and last longer.
I too would like to upgrade to different gears, better brakes, power steering etc. but look at the costs for all this. Might be better to go find a medium duty truck and swap bodies with a deuce?
