we flat towed a couple 5 ton tractors with my XM818. had no problems with tracking or handling. run full speed (55) the whole way 135 miles one way. we used safety chains from the rear of the 818 to the frame rails just behind the front bumper. wired the hooks to prevent them from unhooking...
why not use a disconnect on the ground side? this is the safest way to isolate the batts in my opinion. just be sure to get a switch that will handle the amps.
Don't know where the best place to get these would be. i lucked out and found a set that the military had welded together. they welded them back to back and the wheel wrench works for the handle! so it gets tossed in the tool box and is there if needed where ever the truck goes.
the Cummings in the 500 series trucks may be a little long. the 800 series has a little longer nose to accommodate the longer engine. the transfer case will also need to be moved back to make enough room for the longer trans. the 350 with the turbo cross over tube will hit the hood if run over...
I am looking for the electrical receptacle that mounts on the front of the military semi trailers. it is the male end (pins exposed). any one have a source ? i have checked all that i know of but came up O.
looked at putting Jake's on mine when i do the re-power. for me it wont matter that the hood wont fit (the Jake's wont clear the hood) cause i will need to modify that anyway for the turbo cross tube.
