dunno, but if you are getting 10 and the other end of the same lead is 12 then it's going somewhere. what are you seeing from the back of the switch. I'd just look at every place from the battery to the plug and see where it's disappearing.
it's getting lockers in both rear axles. I have heard with proper driving it can be done without breaking stuff. I guess only time will tell. these two units were rebuilt in 1997 so they should be good to go.
gaskets are here and hopefully will drop at least one in this afternoon.
yes, I pulled the plate and decking. comes right out that way. there is no way to move this stuff by hand. my guess is the chunk weights at least 400lbs. The track bar must also be removed. more pics tomorrow.
no, there is no direct bolt on setup like the oil filter. the fuel filter is very good, very large to handle a lot of crap before needing to be swapped and is easily available. so no real need to change.
some more install pics from today.
BTW bjorn I noticed in the instructions today that it says to shutoff the coolant heater valves on the engine in warm climate to keep from overheating the batteries.
no need to. turbo is simpler and quicker and no need to reinvent the wheel when cummins already did all the work for you.
I can do a kit but most everybody on here are DIY folks so I haven't been asked to do it yet. thats the main reason. if you want one let me know and I can get a quote to you.
a few pics of some of the new parts.
oil pan shroud and hot water plate for the battery box and if you look very closely, the batt hold down is different.
yes bring it back with you and I can use it as a pattern. I have 2 of my own installed on my trucks and can copy them but having that one would be easier.
I am considering making these cab reinforcement plates.
How many people need one/want one. they will look identical to the originals except they won't be carc painted. prob just raw steel.
if I can get enough ppl interested in them I'll have a batch run. obviously the more ppl that get in...
