My gut feeling is like the gasser M35s. Most I've seen have the exhaust out the back with little support which puts it all on the manifold flange. Just a theory.
The cable is relatively easy to get (I have two), the later 3 push/pull cable is the hard one to find one. I also have 2 extra fording kits for a M35 or M35A1 but by the pics they look totally different. Acetomatoco used to have a complete kit. (don't know what happened to it or who got it).
Another way to think is, when driving an old jeep; Start out in 1st then stop and start in 3rd. The jeep (and your clutch) will really bog down and struggle in 3rd.
Well 20 MPH in first might be a stretch, It makes it easier to run but the engine has to turn over faster. (remember lower gears are numerically higher)
I'll be there depending on weekend. I was kind of tight on time during the airshow weekend, and wasn't really crazy about driving 2 hours to go to another airshow. (Rally's are alot more fun). The parcel you have, what city is it in? One thing to remember; not everyone likes/does tents. I kind...
Yes, I'd look at the state parks. There's several close to Denver/Ft Collins that have alot of camping and alot of roads to drive through the mountains. There's also several 4x4 places but they seem more "racing" type centers. Remember the GA rally had it's start in the State Park in Helen GA...
Well the simple fact is that planning on driving an untested (and unchecked) GL truck 1K+ miles on a recovery without a backup plan is well......dumb.
