FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

A little exercise for the FLUs. Maybe a wee bit more than they liked, but hey, gotta try.

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Hey, that's one reason I moved away from the ocean. But being 10 miles from the nearest village of 1,300, people around here just might figure out it was me no matter what. Kind of like when a friend of mine was going a bit fast in the village and almost hit a deer. The cop parked on the...

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Since yours is camouflaged, Brian, the cops won't see it so no need to register it. I plan on outrunning them if I ever see blinking lights in the mirror. Taking a left or a right off the pavement that is. With 2,800 made, how are they going to know it was me?

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

I apologize if the original post from yesterday mysteriously shows up, and this becomes a duplicate. Anyway, I was hoping that someone better at chemistry than I am (that's pretty much anybody) might know what caused the strange deposits on this fuel strainer. Whatever was in the tank smelled...

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Oh, I know that feeling...looking at the photos, again...wondering...hoping. In my case, I've been happy with the results. Hopefully you'll be, too.

Yep, you guessed it. Even tried including a pic, but it refused to stick. Twice.

The slaughter has begun. On a small scale, but still.

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Driving a SEE down the road is not bad. I expected some bucking, as with a wheel loader, but none to be felt. That's with 40 psi and bad shocks, by the way. Can't speak for "high" speed driving as I'm a low rpm person and feel that 35 mph is plenty for the engine. Probably as a result of better...

    Unknown fuel

Are you insinuating that the quantities of gasoline I ingested while siphoning kohsed anni h..a...rrr.....mhh tu meeeeeeeeee?

    Unknown fuel

You don't know what you've been missing. Old gas smelled good. Old gas that got old smelled funky. New gas smells bad. New gas that gets old doesn't work - and still smells bad.

Alright, then it's most likely JP-8. Thanks again, Dave!

    Unknown fuel

Thanks, Dave. How would you describe the smell of it? My fuel smells like late Seventies gasoline which has been sitting in the tank for about 10 years after that...in case you have ever had the pleasure of encountering a similar situation. Needless to say, I'm draining the tank, but first the...

    Unknown fuel

There's something not-diesel in the fuel tank of the FLU419 I just bought, with a fair amount of corrosion and gunk above the fuel level on the inside of the cap, the strainer, and chain. It smells like very old gasoline, and made me queasy - which usually takes a lot of toxic stuff. Apparently...

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Hmm. Never even thought about insurance since I use them on the property and rarely get out on the roads. Figured they'd fall under the homeowners policy. Might have to look into this. Still, a SEE doesn't feel very confidence inspiring over 25 mph, and being a low rpm person, 30 mph is plenty...

    Just bought a FLU 419!!!

Considering the top "speed" of a SEE, wouldn't a slow moving vehicle triangle on the back be enough? It'd definitely be cheaper.

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

It does help (a little bit) that I remembered that I do have some green. An M116A2 (I think) trailer, and a larger one which I can't recall the designation of, and my trusty M1008. But, yeah, I really don't know what the heck to do with that SEE now. Should take the alcohol reservoir off and...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

That's my problem; Not enough green. I'm tapped out. Not even much green when it comes to the FLUs as two of them are desert tan.

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

Well, that was a bummer. Today my parts-SEE arrived. No tools in it, but the low range works fine (it wasn't supposed to) and the non-operational 4WD seems to be a stuck switch. Except for some electrical stuff and the e-brake, everything seems to work. The engine purrs, and it runs and operates...

FLU419 SEE HMMH HME Owners group

I'm guessing you were referring to the HMMH, if so, here are a few pics. And don't worry too much about the fuel leak - not now when fuel is somewhat affordable again.

What things do I look for when buying a FLU419

Wow, you lucky dog. Mine was far from mint and had lots of miles on the odo. But it has served me very well so far, and at times I'm working the snot out of it. And it did come with the tools, which was a pleasant surprise. One thing I'd recommend doing early on, after checking fluids, lubing...
