How long can you store Diesel?

As others said, there are a lot of factors in how long a fuel will last. Oxygen and moisture are the two fastest killers. Biofuel blends are also much shorter life because of the organic components. Straight 100% diesel, in an airtight container, in a cool location, can last a very long time...

How long can you store Diesel?

Red dye is only to distinguish between fuel sold with or without the road taxes added to the cost. Other than that it's the exact same diesel.

M1123 shows to be a different length?

Anything that will fit a standard HMMWV body will fit the M1123. The only real differences between the M1123 and an M998A2 is the rear airlift bumper and having everything for the fording kit already installed except maybe the intake and exhaust stacks. Not much difference at all between the...

M1123 shows to be a different length?

just airlift bumper, the M1123 doesn't come with the winch as standard equipment like say the M1026 or M1046 were

Check how your tires are mounted

They are unidirectional as noted, but the reason why they aren't mounted for the tread all facing the same direction have to do with the date code on the tire is only on one side, so usually the tire gets mounted with that side facing out.

    Choosing a Generator

yeah, a load bank makes doing test runs and cleaning out the system much easier for diesels. For your Generac though, it will run thousands of hours no problem without ever being load banked. It's always nice to know exactly how much load it can take, but unless you plan to be pushing that...

    Fuel Type

JP-8 has enough additives to not be an issue. It's what we ran all of our trucks on in my unit since we had lots of it for the helicopters (and as far as I know the entire military runs everything on it) It won't hurt to put in some lubricity additives, but not required.

    Choosing a Generator

Directly above the portion of the chart you posted above is fuel tank capacity, and above that is the chart for how much fuel it burns at those load levels. So that really is just how long it will run on a full tank of fuel. Running the unit out of fuel can be a major issue with some engines...

    Choosing a Generator

So first things first, with diesel generators it's very important to size them to the load. Having too large of a generator can be just as big of an issue as having too small of one. I will also point out that if you already have a fuel supply you rotate through, buying a generator of that...

yeah, I pretty much only remember to check this thread and a couple of forums, so don't always remember what's posted where.

    PNW Info Thread!

Yup, Winlock the 3rd weekend of July, so July 14-18 (Thursday through Monday for anyone that wants to be there that long) Site owner is trying to get an idea of how many people will be there, and not sure how much he watches this thread (though he's over in the HMMWV forum a lot) From the...

What did you do to your trailer today.

on the HMMWV I used a fiberglass panel painted black. Been working great, and I have more of the panels. Or I might just put some wood strips in there. I have a sawmill and acres of trees, so plenty of materials to use.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Okay, did yet another thing to my M1102 trailer. So we all know the aerodynamics on them suck. Next weekend I have a camping trip I'm going on that is over 200 miles each way. Not really a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, but with fuel prices how they are, I decided every little bit...

    Temperature

So looking at other threads, I think you have the M1123, which would need the 12k halfshafts. Replacement shafts are kind of spendy on them, so if all that is wrong is the boot, you're much further ahead replacing the boots and repacking the CVs than replacing them Pretty much everywhere I'm...

    GovPlanet Humvee Question

Those brackets are from the Marine Armor Kit on the M1123s and get ignored when they remove the armor. My truck had them as well.

    Temperature

So to answer question #3 first, yes, that's within the normal range for these trucks. There is no reason to replace the thermostat with a lower one. The fan kicks in and the temp drops, which means the thermostat is open by this point. These have diesel engines that like to run warmer than...
