We (The USA) gives zillions in foreign military aid via $$$, equipment, and training to allies. I went to a US Army school here in the US and sat beside officers from both Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. Happens all the time.
It being an "insane" price is all relative. Spend a little, then spend lots of time and $ chasing down needed parts, some of which are hard to find/get, some of which you may never find. Spend alot, get a 95% complete one thats missing just the "easy" stuff to find.

If you try to swap out parts, make sure your donor and donee are the exact same model. Uncle Sam used the same NSN for several different 60 Amp Generators from a few different manufacturers. They all are functionally the same, but parts dont swap from one to another.
TA-1's and TA 312's are still alive and well in the US Army's inventory, and used in static locations, like running from the front gate to a TOC or the like.
I was able to recover 2 "dead" Hawkers from 8.5 Volts and 6.5 volts to 100% charged by following the info I got from Hawker that I posted in this thread. Not bad at all!
It was never a MWO. From the research I have done, it seems the only trucks to get the dual circut brakes was the later 85ish on up USAF trucks.
Memphis a few years ago had the Dual MC and perportioning valve.
