Do it do it-- just 180 grit the brush marks out , power wash it, tape it and shoot.
I painted mine outside, on a sunny- low wind day. I must say it came out pretty good.
As far as the 3 pattern goes, take some pictures with your phone and print them off to use as refrence.

Have a buddy with a dozer or a 20k winch or be prepared to pay big for a wrecker, if he will even try to get to you.
I agree with Welldigger, I used my 500 dollar snap-on impact on my rims and broke 2 sockets without budging wheel studs.
I picked up a 1 inch air gun at h.freight , and two 1 inch drive sockets (cost of both was under 200 bucks)
Money well spent, if you plan on doing tire work save yourself...
