If I were you I would take a oh crap tool/parts kit in truck until you find problem.
Maybe you got lucky with banging on the shifter, but you really don't know.
Hopefully that was it. I know a breakdown is unforeseen, but if you are prepared

The electric winch will be the easiest, and probably more cost effective.
Look into the warn 18k winch, my friend has one and loves it.
Unless you gotta have a mile marker, I think the warn will serve your needs.

I agree,thats about the same way I do my preload on bearings.
The only tourqe that is in the 250 to 400 range is the lugnuts,I think it is 300 ft#
Let me know guys,cause I don't rember any bearing tourques being that high.
