Ike,
Thanks for the information. I'm not really concerned about the noise. I live on 32 mountaineous acres and I have a small shooting range set up at the top of my property. I'm putting in a small shed to store targets, etc. and thought this generator would be nice to provide power for...
Is the MEP-701A / MEP-016B a good GenSet? I am quite happy with my MEP-003A, but have been looking for a smaller unit. Thanks for the info on the TM, I was having the same problem.
The question has probably already been answered, but I'm confused. If you are talking about the weatherstrip on the body that the upper part of the windshield frame seals against, it has to be in two pieces since the center post would interfere if it was one piece. Maybe I'm missing something.
Clinto,
If you need any flyers, pamphlets, etc. printed in color, let me know. I can get them printed for free. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. I live in Hiawassee, but I work in Duluth when I'm not travelling, not too far from you. - Gary
If you want to see a very good write-up of the MUTT, check out Wikipedia M151 MUTT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . The MUTT with the worst roll-over problem were the M718 variants or ambulance versiion. We had two medics killed in rollovers of M718A1s in two separate accidents in less...
I also would like to know how propane works out. I haven't performed a search on SS, but I can't believe this hasn't been tried before. Anyone tried propane?
I have an ether system on my Deuce and recently purchased three new NOS military canisters from another SS member. I understand that you...
I will definitely be there in 2010 and will be bringing my Deuce and possibly towing an M105A2 as well. Fantastic rally in 2009. I also can bring firewood if needed.
I run John Deere +50 in my Deuce and both of my tractors. I have been very satisfied with the low oil consumption, fast oil pressure build and easier starting in cold weather. My engines all seem to be cleaner inside as well.
I bought a trailer mounted MEP-003A from GL and picked it up at Ft Jackson. I did not preview it, but I looked at the photos to make sure it seemed to have all the parts. Most of the generators at Ft Jackson at the time were junk, missing parts, etc. but this fact was evident from the photos...
Ford designed the MUTT and initially entertained the thoughts of marketing a civilian model. Obviously, they went with another design for the original Bronco, a semi-copy of the International Scout.
When I was in the Army in 1970-71, we were instructed not to use MOGAS in multifuels unless it was an emergency. We were to use diesel only and if gasoline had to be used to mix it with as much diesel as available. We were not warned about possible damage to the IP, we were warned about damage...
I drove a 1968 M-715 while stationed in Germany in 1970 for about a 4 month period of time. I was lucky in that I drove it all over Germany to many different bases, much of it through the Alps. Much of it was also pulling a trailer, sometimes heavily loaded. I loved to drive that truck. It...
One other thing I just remembered is that Deuce drivers complained about Deuces with vertical exhaust wet-stacking and blowing black oil and crud all over the truck, which they then had to clean off. Deuces tended to sit around idling for extended periods of time.
As Clinto mentioned, I believe all the early multifuels all had the rear side exhaust. When I was in the Army (1970-71) there were gassers and multifuels both in service. Many of the 5 tons were also still gassers. Some of our trucks were from the early 50s. Some of the Deuce's were being...
