Great story! Glad there weren't any injuries, or damage to the truck... broadsiding a car at the intersection would have been bad, or the exploding tire could have wiped out the fender, or you could have lost control and hit the guard rail...
Looks like driving on the brake drum didn't even do...
Great pics, I love seeing the little 108's progress... Are you almost ready for paint?
I showed them to my girlfriend to help explain why I "need" a wrecker. She didn't get it.

Here is a pic of a nice, high quality "field repair" that was done to the bushings on my 5-ton. If your bushings look like this, I think you could probably justify replacing them!
I got mine from "OD Cloth"
http://www.odcloth.com/products.html
They make them to original specs using proper canvas... looks great, smells good too. Complete set for deuce was $115 shipped, probably still the same price. You have a choice of box or spring driver's seat.
I took my seats and...
If I were in Korea, I think I'd be nervously watching which way the wind was blowing at all times... I know they say that underground nuclear tests release very little radiation, but I wouldn't trust that little twerp to the north!
Take care over there...

Jon
The front tires were at 25psi and the rears were at 20. I was afraid to go much lower because they are so old and rotten, I thought they might fail from flexing too much. I doubt lowering them more would have made any difference in regards to my getting stuck on the "bridge"... The sand was so...
Here's a link to a YouTube clip of my deuce and I having fun out in the desert last weekend...

I was going down through that sandy wash to get around a dirt-fill bridge that I caused to collapse the previous day... The weight of the deuce caused a...
Hmmm... To grease or not to grease? I just replaced my speedo cable, with a new one from Antelope Valley Truck. Neither the maint. manual or lube order mentions lube for the cable, and Norm at Antelope Valley told me it is to be left dry. "Dry graphite only, if you insist", he said. The only...
Sorry for the poor quality, but here's a pic of one of the lifting bars that fit there... The top end not visible due to the over exposure, loops over to form a lifting ring.

Jon
I got my canvas seat covers from OD Cloth:
http://www.odcloth.com/products.html
Then I had a local upholstery shop stuff them. For the driver's back they used several layers of a fairly stiff "sheet" of padding. They did a great job! Not cheap, though maybe you could find a suitable...
That looks pretty cool. The DT-466 is pretty tall and long... Also, the tranny may be long such that the transfer case would be in the way. You may want to do some preliminary measuring before you commit. Maybe you already have, or maybe you're a fabricator and will stuff it in there anyway!

Hi Bjorn,
Thanks for the pic! That was a lot of fun... My first "convoy"!
Once up to speed, my deuce doesn't smoke... it's only on acceleration. Even then, it's not too bad... but enough that I can see the smoke's shadow on the ground. I've never seen any blue or white smoke.
As for the...
Hi Guys,
Sorry about the duplicate posts, I had a major meltdown and was offline for a few days.

I remember reading somewhere (maybe here on SS?) that the fuel injectors in a multifuel, with their two-hole tip design, were not designed for optimal efficiency... Rather, they were...
Hi Ryan,
Ford trucks with dual fuel tanks use the Pollack tank switching valves. They are well made and very reliable, I have two of them on my trucks, an '85 and an '86. A few years ago I replaced the one on my '85, the one on the '86 is still original and working. So they last 20+ years...
Mine is parked in the driveway all the time, although it's not highly visible because the driveway runs along the side of the house. It's nice to not have to pay for storage, and convenient to have it here when I want to use it.
Regards,
Jon
Hi Lee,
I think what turning up the fuel will do is give you the ABILITY to worsen your fuel economy... Your actual mpg's will depend on whether you can keep your foot out of it! After all, you haven't changed the injectors, so at lighter throttle applications the truck ought to be the same as...
