Hi Lee,
I think what turning up the fuel will do is give you the ABILITY to worsen your fuel economy... Your actual mpg's will depend on whether you can keep your foot out of it! After all, you haven't changed the injectors, so at lighter throttle applications the truck ought to be the same as...
Very cool! There are some similar looking 8x8s at Barstow Truck Parts, except they are made by Mack, and have one steer axle and three driven rears. They also have Detroit 8V92s. (Or were they 8V71s?...)
I love 2-stroke Detroits (my favorite diesels!) but an 8V92 is total overkill for us...
Don't feel bad, when I hit the brakes BOTH my front amber parking lights come on!
I thought this was normal, that the truck was wired this way. But I guess I need to check grounds too, huh?
Jon
My truck did the same thing when I got it, radiator cap was bad. I could see the crack in the rubber washer. I got my "new old stock" cap from Saturn Surplus and the problem was cured.

Hmmm. I voted to keep it, since I haven't noticed any issues with the site's speed, but I see that at this point, scrapping it seems to be leading in the polls.
Ya know, if you scrap EVERYTHING, the site will become infinitely fast! rofl

Saturn Surplus lists them in the M35 section under "windshield seal" for $12.50 each.
TNJ Murray has all the door and window seals and felt lined door window channels, too. They're not listed on their website, but they've got 'em.

I wonder if there are any original gun trucks still intact in Vietnam? It would make an interesting History Channel feature, to go there and see what's left of what was left behind...

Working on that Cat engine doesn't look like fun... It's pretty well packed in there. I can see the TM now:
4-3 FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
PERSONNEL : 3
EQUIPMENT CONDITION : TRUCK PARKED, HANDBRAKE SET, ENGINE REMOVED.
(TM-2320-209-12-1)

What is yours doing? I'm interested in their failure modes. I got a "depot rebuild" air shift and just finished putting it in instead of a sprag, and it's no good. It pops out of gear on deceleration, which pretty much means the gears are worn down. I removed the top cover to see if...
Chuck - You're probably thinking of DigiKey... They have everything electronic. Personally I would try to find relays that are of a slightly higher rating but still fit, so they are not frying all the time.

Thanks Guys... I wanted my girlfriend to follow us on the freeway at least part of the way to get some shots of us driving. I thought the two desert deuces rolling along I-15 through the desert would have made great shots... She could even get ahead of us, pull over and get out and take little...
Hi Group,
I had a great time with Bjorn and the cranetruck Tuesday and Wednesday... He arrived at my house mid-afternoon on Tuesday after having a bit of trouble; after fueling up earlier in the day he started intermittently losing power. Possibly contaminated fuel or some crud from the tank...
Hi Group,
I thought I'd pass along a neat little restoration trick I figured out a few days ago...
I recently bought a pressure washer (Sears/Craftsman 4 h.p., 2,100 psi), and I've found it to be extremely useful for everything I expected... like cleaning and degreasing. However I discovered a...
Hi Group,
I assume someone has talked to UPS on the phone to find out what is going on? The tracking shows "Status: Pickup" which indicates that it has not actually even been picked up from the initial shipping location yet, be it a UPS Store, Mail Box place or a private residence. If it had...
When I loosened my lines to bleed air out when I first got the truck running, cyl. #2's flare fitting was stuck in the nut, so that when I turned the nut with the wrench it was trying to twist the metal tube. This fatigues the metal, and can cause rupture or breakage under the incredibly high...
