RE: rust killer
"Kleen Strip" Phosphoric "Prep & Etch" is what I've used since I can't find Ospho locally here in Georgia. Prep & Etch is the same stuff only different manafacturer. I got it either at Lowes or Home Depot ( can't remember which ) you'll find it over where they keep the paint...

Thanks for the great info., I printed it and put it in my "Need to Know" file. I have the manuals but nothing beats info from hands on experience ( ACE should know that by now)

Inter Agency has been offering 2 1/2ton lockouts for a few years now www.m35products.com ($595.00 new )
RE: Re: RE: Brand Spanking New M37 Transfer Case --- Yup...S
I bought my nos transfer from John in 98 ( $375.00) it had M-715 flange/yokes on it, your right they are louder then a broke in transfer, but my noise went away when I bought complete gov rebuilt front and rear axles/diff assemblies...
Peachtree City meet ( Falcon field) is about 9 miles from me, so I got storage if you have any problems. I gotta join the Georgia chapter and get my deuce there also.
Thanks for the congrats guys.
The truck does have some issues ( ie transfercase and some leaky seals ) but overall I think it was a steal as I bought my M-45A2 W/W purification truck from Jeff about 8 years ago for $3000.00.
Wreckerman I listed my 5Ton in the classifieds and I'll also PM you
And landed on a Deuce!
I now have a M-35A2 w/w parked next to my 5 ton. I bought Rays ( Fujinama) Deuce that was here in the classifieds for $2800.00 and drove it the 100 miles back home and other then getting a rear flat tire ( inside tire of course!) the truck ran great. I think I'm gona sell...
RE: Clear as mud
OK
But if the transfer is in neutral with no air how is the guy gonna move it?? Not arguing just looking for a education on these vehicles.
P.S. Jeff do you still have the 5 ton (multi) front harness for sale?
RE: Clear as mud
I'm still new to 5 tons but I thought they are full time 6wd and there a airshift valve that "disengages" the front axle when you put the truck in reverse which prevents the transfer gears from binding while backing up??
Pressure washer with a good strong degreaser will take the oxidation/chalky finish off also. I did most of my deuce that way and then hit the cab with a DA to smooth down the previous 4 color camo brush marks, 5 years later paint has faded but no peeling...
Yep
When I first went to look at my 5 ton , I lifted the hood and saw the Mack engine I said SOLD!!!
of course I'm sure I'll pay a pretty price for parts compared to the Multi.....Well thats if it ever breaks

I also had a friend who used mineral spirits when he painted his Gama-Goat. But you need something stronger then MS when using a synthetic hardner.
Also I would recommend to NOT use any gun with less then a 1.8mm tip as the gilliespie is a heavy paint. I use a 2qt remote gun from Northern...
I used Martin senour synthetic hard (8870) and I reduced it 2 to 1 with xylene (home depot) as what was recomended on the back of the gilliespie can,you can also use toulene. Gillespie recomends not reducing it more then 3 parts paint to 1 part reducer but the hardner will really thicken up the...
Spray Pam the tires
or I went to homedepot and bought a 6" wide sheet of thin duct/flashing sheetmetal and had someone hold/cup it around the wheel bead while I painted the rim
