LMTVs are geared for the tires on them. The m939 trucks are geared for duals. If you need pulling power the lmtv has significantly more than a m939 truck with singles on it.
The lmtv is more street able. Either one is great for carrying a big heavy load down a dry dirt road. The lmtv has more creature comforts and the cab heater is better. A few of the m939 trucks had lockers. None available for LMTVs.
There is a module under the dash. First thing I would check is the ground and make sure the connector is on good. They have been known to go bad though.
Got it finally!!! 2 air lines under the cab were switched. I compared each line one at a time to a functional truck seeing where each went to and from.
Yup in MD not too far from me. Bent steering rod and funky dash spaghetti. But I have several parts trucks and plenty of stuff to fix this truck. Its a 1994. 20 years old qualifies for antique reg in CT with a 500 dollars taxed value and no restrictions on use. It can be your daily driver dmv...
You are correct. Other than a few wires here and there that can rub thru over the years most issues are from improper or lack of maintenance. The trucks have made it this far there are still plenty in service. I havent heard piles of complaints about Stewart & Stevenson generators and oilfield...
Wtec2 has a vim module, which is hanging down in his pic, and the trans ecu behind the keypad. You are correct wtec3 has the trans ecu where the vim module would sit under the relays.
It looks like they took some radio gear out. There is no engine ecu it's all mechanical. Trans ecu would be behind the keypad. Vim module which is basically neutral start and safety relays is the black box hanging down. Nothing's missing that can't be sourced. It looks like a decent truck.
Yes identical. If you do a search in one state say Ohio since there are alot of listings. Put a few items on your watch list and then scroll down or to the next page they will be there and on your watch list when you open the page. Same identical listing shown up multiple times in the search.
I have noticed GL has been doubling up on many listings, I see something interesting and put it on my watch list. Then down a bit or on the next page I come across the same item listing. Not another listing of the same item the same listing item number already on my watch list. Like they are...
7 pin is 12v. Easiest way to be sure of the pinout is to use a multimeter and cycle thru functions. I dont see why you couldnt wire in a brake controller to the 12v.
Go to the starter solenoid. Solenoid engagement positive is the contact closest to the engine block. Put an alligator clip lead on it and touch to the large positive terminal on the starter end. See if it cranks. If no crank listen for noise like the starter solenoid is trying to engage. If it...
