    Backwards slave cable adapter?

That's what I get for letting someone else hook up the cables to the slave receptacle during the restoration. He apparently assumed that the shorter cable went to the nearest connector. That means, of course, he attached the positive lead to the grounding stud and the longer negative lead to...

My M931 Recovery and Restoration thread...

I was thinking of doing that on my M931, can you post some pictures? Really nice tires! Cheers

    looking for info on markings

Welcome aboard Rob. That is your vehicle's Army registration. The third character is a zero. Look up a thread on here called something like "2012 VIN information", follow Carnac's instructions in post one and he might be able to provide you with some history on your vehicle. Cheers PS-...

    Color of convoy lights

Since we are putting our respective states in- Texas- All colours other than amber are for emergency vehicles. This includes green and white. It is illegal to be equipped with these lights if the vehicle is not an emergency vehicle, as in you can't have them even if you never turn them on...

    LOGSA access?

Likewise I was in there a couple of days ago downloading the M939 -25 manuals, no problems (except the new ones are huge, one is close to 80mb). Your computer may not like the site because their certificate stuff is out of date. Mine fusses at me until it finally gives me the "well, I warned...

    Gas Mileage Reporting

My M185 gets 8-9mpg (straight diesel) on the highway at 52mph average, which is less than the M35 gets. There is a lot of wind resistance from the box, and these trucks are much heavier than the cargo version. Cheers

    Trucks On Michelin 14.00R20s

My Marine M813A1. Came off Camp LeJeune with Michelins on the front and Goodyears on the back. Pic 1 is on Ft Hood. A couple of M931A1/2s, though not mine (it has Goodyears). Cheers .

New trailer maker to start production in Ohio.

I REALLY like the idea of these trailers. It gives the off-road crowd a good trailer to use without hacking up an original M416, leaving those to the MV collectors. Best of both worlds! I hope your business is a success. Cheers

    1967 stevens m 416 trailer usmc

It's not an American can (European), if that makes a difference to you. Period is correct though. Going with the Marine theme, you can put the can on the tongue, or hang it off the sides ahead of the wheel wells. In my service, I only saw them on the tongue (late 70s-late 80s). The ones on...

    1967 stevens m 416 trailer usmc

The green is 34079, not 052. Sand 30277, black I can't tell you off the top of my head. Any flat black will do though. Cheers

    1967 stevens m 416 trailer usmc

Here is the link to the MERDC manual, I found it under the Deuce manuals. http://test.steelsoldiers.com/upload/M35/TB43-0147.pdf It should explain the schemes, though you will have to look for actual colour examples elsewhere. Rapco sells all the colours, but the example chips on their site...

    1967 stevens m 416 trailer usmc

No, the overall green could be either semi-gloss or flat, but semi-gloss went out when the camouflage came in. Camo is all flat, reduced reflectance being part of the camo effect. The MERDC camo was introduced fleet-wide to all the services for tactical vehicles in c.1975 (except at Ft Hood...

    no ctis on m931a2

The M939 manuals are all TM 9-2320-272-##. The -10 is your operator manual, -12 is lube order, -24 and -25 (latest version) are maintenance, the ones with P at the end are parts manuals. Cheers

    v-100 turret basket

Tom, sing out on any detail photos, etc. that you need also. Don't be bashful about asking for details, measurements, etc., we enjoy this and it's great to see another V being restored! Cheers

    1967 stevens m 416 trailer usmc

Looks like the Winter Verdant scheme - green 34079 (named Forest Green), brown 30118 (named Field Drab), sand, and black. All would have been flat. Look at TB 43-0147 for the info and the patterns. Cheers

    v-100 turret basket

Welcome! JimK successfully reproduced a basket based on detailed measured drawings of my original. I'll share the details with you and see if we can't get you pointed in the right direction. Myself and a couple of others probably have some spare bits we can share, and plenty of advice on...

    Cucv door markings

Per the manual- black on green/brown areas, green on black areas. Cheers PS added pics for example. Marine CUCV's often had the USMC###### on the door just above the crease line. Also, the Marines usually write the tire pressure as ##PSI, though they do use TP## also.

Katrina Deuce Story - MUST READ

Most welcome, John. One thing I can say is that if he does embark on a similar trip, I will not again be the one seeing him off in the night saying to myself "He reeeeally shouldn't be going alone..." The last time I was going myself with a unit from work, so could not go with him. That won't...

    Painting an Air Force Deuce

"Original" often can be any or all the schemes for one vehicle. My M931 is currently overall 34094 green, but that is a repaint as evidenced by numerous tan bits showing through. Under one of the paint chips that is lifting on the frame (as CARC tends to do) is a small black/brown area, so...
