    M1009 rear window crank

I think the crank has a heavy C clip or snap ring. I have a few cranks let me look. I will follow up with some pictures if you need them. I hope that helps.

    Meet Mr Rusty

I have Mr. Rusty coming back in the shop again. The owner called me and said that he smells oil at highway speed. He said it don't appear to be leaking but the smell is there. Any ideas? I talked to him on the phone. That is all he said and described to me. I was thinking the small rubber elbows...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Sanded and painted the CUCV M1008 drive shafts tonight. Did a lot of lawn mowing and worked on the Honda tractor again. Never steam clean a perfectly good running piece of equipment. Never. Lesson learned. But I just had to try out the new steam cleaner last fall. Everything was so squeaky clean...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

I agree. But we probably shouldn't call it a torque rod. It can't help counteract any rotational forces. I will not be able to correct the GM manual. The 1984 light truck repair manual calls it a strut rod. The strut rod is shown on the NP 205 and the NP 208 in this edition. I didn't mean for...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

Be that as it may. I dis-assembled/assembled many 73-91 Chevrolet trucks over the years. I agree the CUCV's did not have them. I did see it on a 1985 M1028 and that also had the rear bed fenders braces on it. Something that was not on every CUCV I seen. The torque rod can in no way weaken or...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

I don't know. I am not an engineer. It does appear that it would add strength to the assembly. I think it will make a great addition to an off road vehicle. I am going to add the steel strut rod to mine along with a few other items to beef up the cross member and rock ability of my M1009.

    NP 208 transfer case brace

The plates look fairly easy to duplicate. I may attempt to remove these from this 1990 K 5. The fly wheel cover looks smaller on the 350 gas engine. I think that will effect the fit and function of the rods on the 6.2 Diesel. The plates appear to be bolted right next to the engine...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

ore More pictures of the torque rods. The plates to mount the rods from the flywheel cover appear to be between the engine bracket and the block. A chore to change but can be done. I may be adding them to Terminus M1009. This 1990 K 5 Blazer has a 700 R transmission with a Jasper sticker on it...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

A lot of pictures of torque rods. The rod that runs from the engine/bell housing to the transfer case will fit. It is attached to the transfer case with metric bolts. M16 x 2.0 attach the slotted rod to the transfer case. These rods are on a 1990 K5 Blazer. Note the special plates on the motor...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Tonight I made great progress again. I bounced around on 4 projects but am completed and ahead of schedule on the M1008The core support was stripped and the stock OEM radiator was hurled on the scrap pile. Rebuilt transfer case installed. Exhaust all hooked up, the pulleys and fan installed...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

Please remain calm. I am still working.

    NP 208 transfer case brace

That part of the torque rod seems easy. I was wondering about the rods from the bottom flywheel cover. It would be easy to install the long rod. I figured on tapping the holes. Thank you for the advise. I am working on a skid plate/cross member for terminus m1009 and wanted to add the torque...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

I was out and looked in my field at lunch time. I have a 1990 K5 with a 350 700R complete. It has the torque rod from engine to transfer case. I have the bolts and will know the bolt size. It has a 350 engine with the braces on the flywheel cover. I will check it out and report back on my...

    NP 208 transfer case brace

I resurrected this thread because a few people more then 2 have sent me messages about these braces. Does anyone have any pro's and con's on these bracket? And if they are so HD and helpful. How have all the CUCV's been built with out them? Just a question for myself and to help others. I have a...

    Truck keeps losing it's prime

Thank you for the "Grammar Police" I see you have followers for correcting my spelling. I thank you also. That is assuming people searching are so academically correct as the 3 Amigo's. Now do you have any helpful advise to help the "loosing" prime issue? Or do you just want to troll around...

Batteries draining, 1986 CUCV Blazer. Seeking advice.

Honestly. I don't even know how to read a wiring diagram. I worked on a vehicle assembly line 20 years , a GM shop for 10 and never read a wiring diagram. I just use common sense a test light and a Fluke. Most things are easy if you apply yourself. It helps to have another vehicle nearby that...

Batteries draining, 1986 CUCV Blazer. Seeking advice.

Poor guy is riding a bike. He ask for help and you reference him to start reading manuals. If you get sick I hope someone tells you to read the Physicians Desk Reference. The guy is just asking for a little help. It's his first post. Or is this how to roll out the welcome wagon to a new comer...

    Terminus M1009

I did a lot of scrubbing and cleaning and waxing today. I cleaned 2 of my favorite vehicles from top to bottom and I cleaned the windows and vacuumed them out. I waxed the brown one. Skipped the wax on the Mule M1009. I did wax my Honda tractor. I also waxed my wall hanger. Chevrolet G3500 HD...
