Thanks for the kind words and encouragement guys. and I'll thank Chris ( CHB32nj ) , he gave me the idea to come up with something better than the Wix adapters.
I should have parts available by the weekend and hopefully have a Classified ad up by Friday.
In the meantime, feel free to PM me.
Last week I mentioned developing an easy to use spin-on fuel filter adapter for use rather than the the WIX 24470
Here is a look at the first production parts off the CNC machine and mounted on my 002A for your viewing pleasure.
These adapters drop right in place of the original Fram canister...
Interesting that it died while it was running, correct? Just a weak battery should not have caused a shut-down so long as the DC charging system is still working correctly. Let us know what you find once you start poking around with it.
2X on the oven. That's what I use... Free ovens and a 4 outlet cord to add additional heat guns heat lamps etc.
Even used 2 ovens and a ton of other odds and ends while back feeding into my shop to test 005's converted to single phase.
After soaking, how are you attempting to break it free? Just a socket on the crank bolt or other?
I usually take a piece of wood and whack the pistons down with a hammer and chunk of wood while putting pressure in same direction with a breaker bar on the crank.
I have also needed to occasionally...
Best to look in the TM, it will explain everything. In a nutshell you need to completely disassemble the generator to get it off.
The end cap and stator slide off by taking the nuts off the long threaded rods, once that is out of the way you can access the bolts holding the rotor to the...
I could very well be missing something here, but I'm not sure connecting L3 to chassis ground will be a good idea. I would imagine it will cause problems with all the DC negative controls and gages, not to mention making the entire machine HOT to ground / neutral by 120V??
Am I...
For anyone thinking about converting their 002/003, 004/005 to spin-on filters, I know lots of guys use the Wix 24770 fuel filter mount, add bushings and fabricate a mounting bracket to hold everything in place.
At the suggestion of a slightly frustrated fellow SS member, ( frustrated about the...
I don't think we will ever know... During the night his load is minimal, just the cycling of the blower motor on a small propane heater in his camper and a single light over the door. No fridge, nothing. He said he used a sheet of thick rubber for a cover and was mindful to keep it propped up...
Wow that is strange. The cold smoke is definitely a lack of compression in my experience. However, a slight lack of compression will usually start to fire after 30 seconds of running due to increased heat and the excess fuel increasing compression in that cylinder. You aren't getting...
Ok, so it sounds like your valves are good. So this motor was running fine before you opened it up to de-carbon it?
And all you did is remove the head, clean it up and replaced the injectors?
Do you still have the old injectors and was there an issue with them other than being dirty? Sticking...
To the OP, Are you sure the problem is your gage and not your sender?
Pegging the gage is a classic sign of a broken wire or a bad sending unit.
However I have seen gages with one of the fine wires broken inside which can also peg the gage, just not that common.
You should either check the smoking cylinder's compression or check the valves for leaks. Neither is easily accomplished without the correct tools.
Easiest thing to do is loosen both rocker arms to ensure both valves are closed, then with the injector out find a way to pressurize the cylinder...
once you get the top cover off, follow the AC wires too. Some people have reported shorts to ground caused by improperly routed AC wires chaffing and shorting to the aluminum body panels.
I also had a " Parts" machine once that had this same issue, I ended up rebuilding it and luckily I saw the...
Unfortunately you were not alone with regards to missing your inverter. There were dozens of 813's rolling through Chambersburg PA about a year or 2 ago. Almost all of them were like brand new with only 2 hours showing on the meters.
People freaked out and paid top dollar for them, not...
Have you looked at the battery charging fuse inside the control cube? Gray fuse holder to the left of the AC select switch and just below the DC circuit breaker. F1 if I recall correctly...
I believe it's a 30A fuse.
I would start there.
Yes, the bearing is in perfect condition, so the contact is not from movement in the rotor.
When comparing the damaged rotor to the one I replaced it with, the winding of the damaged rotor sticks out beyond the diameter of the iron core where the winding on the replacement rotor is recessed...
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a resident or someone in the Gerald Missouri area who would be interested in helping me recover an Mep-003A generator that needs to be shipped to RI?
I just need someone to pick it up in Gerald and I will coordinate getting it shipped from your location to me...
