MEP-003A stalling under high load test?

Looks like he already converted to spin-on filters, so that should all be good. I think it's either a governor issue or possibly fuel injector issue. Also check the linkage bar from governor arm to the IP. make sure it compresses correctly, if its gummed up with paint it can cause a problem.

MEP-003A stalling under high load test?

I think your issue is probably that your governor droop adjustment is a little off. The -34TM explains how to adjust it in section 7-3 In a nutshell you want to turn the star wheel located under the blower wheel housing, just to the right of the fuel shut off solenoid. You will see a spring...

    mpe803a

Make sure your batteries are both charged fully and the connections are good. I once had a machine that would crank from the dead crank but just click the relays when trying to start from S1. Turned out the battery cross over wire had chaffed through and shorted to the corner of the engine...

Ambac M50 injection pump, couple tips

Hello everyone, I've rebuilt a few more Mep-002a / 003a injection pumps over the last few weeks and pulled out a bit of hair trying to figure out a problem on one! So I thought I would share a couple new things I have learned. #1 when reviving a machine that has been sitting and has a stuck...

    Mep-802a engine change

Once up and running are you going to tear down the old engine and report your findings? Curious to see if you trashed a valve or what!

    Mep 803a hydro locked

Thanks for the tip, I'll check my local Walmart. I used to use it for my jet ski.... but that was 20 years ago!

    Mep-803a Switch,Frecuency Trip Burn

Question is.... why did it burn up? I'd hate to see you spend $159 or even $75 on a new one and have that one cook itself right out of the gate as well... I can't help diagnose what caused it, but hopefully others have experience with it to help you check things before replacing it.

    Mep 803a hydro locked

Wow, that puts a new spin on "Fogging the cylinders" with oil prior to storage! I was at the local parts store looking for fogging oil a couple weeks ago and my wholesale guy said no one carries fogging oil any more and suggested just squirting a little ATF in each cylinder, or a little wd-40...

    MEP002A Starter Doesn't Always Disengage

You're talking about an 002A with 7.8 hours on it? It's worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it! It depends a lot on your area, the time of year ( they fetch more during a wide scale outage ) and the supply of machines in your area. In general, where I am located I have sold many real...

    MEP-802a “non runner”

Yup, you are burning off carbon for sure. Shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour under load to clear it out. Judging by the small stain at the manifold gasket, it probably wasn't too bad. Sometimes you see black goo just pouring out of that joint! Your's looks pretty good actually.

    current sensor - mep803/2

I've never seen a bad one on an 802/803 but I have seen several on the older 002/003. Just like kurt said, either an open or any out of spec resistance reading on a single winding will cause issues. On the 002/003 it can cause no power output from the machine or incorrect / erratic power readings

    Mep002/3a Fuel Pump Parts

I've never seen rebuild kits for them, but there are tons of 24V pumps that will work in its place, many as cheap as $30

    803A Hard to start

Just to elaborate, in Zarathustra's case what is happening is the relief valve is stuck closed, causing oil pressure to go too high. This pumps up the lifters to the max and floats the valves causing a loss of compression and then the motor dies. If you are unable to even get the motor started...

    MEP-803A overheat - newer issue

Another helpful trick is to drill a 1/8" air bleed hole through the flat section of the thermostat. Some better brands come with a hole already there with a little loose fit captive pin that will seal it once pressure builds. This allows the air to pass through when filling, but 1/8" is small...

Running on 803 over 24 hours now

Exactly... People always say " Propane is more efficient " Well, that may be so, when looking from a distance but it all boils down to the measly 91,000 BTU's Vs 139,000. Hope you have a BIG propane tank.... because you won't be getting anything filled during an outage. Especially if it needs...

Source for #10-32 x 1/2 SS flange heads?

If you aren't too hung up on stainless, I had grabbed zinc plated serrated flange head bolts 10-32 x 5/8" for about $10 per 100 and also got serrated flange nuts for $8 / 100 on ebay. Not the original style, but I like the serrated flange heads personally, they grab good and don't vibrate loose...

    MEP-803A overheat - newer issue

It's difficult to tell the condition of ALL the tubes, but if you disconnect the lower hose and stick a garden hose in the top at full open you should have full flow out the bottom, it should not be restricted and forcing pressure out the top. You may get some splash-back out the top because the...

    MEP-803A overheat - newer issue

Running it without a thermostat could very likely be the cause of the overheating. It may seem contradictory, but without the thermostat to regulate the flow, water will circulate too fast and not transfer its heat properly. Excessive levels of antifreeze and insufficient water will also cause...

    MEP-803A overheat - newer issue

So you pulled the t-stat, flushed motor, replaced t-stat and new coolant, then it overheated??

    MEP-803A overheat - newer issue

First thought would be a stuck thermostat. Any idea if the upper hose was excessively hot when it shut down or still cold / cool? Also, was the temp gage pegged right? First you should verify the engine actually overheated and the issue isn't a faulty sensor. Then verify the hoses and radiator...
