Can you post a picture from the back. I want to put 235/85R16 tires and rims (CUCV) on my A3 but I feared that the wide axle would make them stick out of the fenders.
The only significant differences are the alts and mounts. Basic long block is the same. Depending on what tranny you have, may need a TPS on the IP but you should have that on the blown engine.
I just put 070s in my truck. Well, 7 of them. The 8th was not cooperating and I didn't risk breaking it off. Probably don't need 8 here in FL anyways. The plugs fit the factory harness. Should I be considering A/C 60G plugs? Also, if one was expecting a gp to break off, what preparations...
Most details have already been covered. I would retain the old bearings or at least one wheels worth. Clean them and pack them in grease in a freezer ziplock and stow them in the truck. Super cheap insurance in the event a bearing goes away on the road.
I would assume that the fuel pressure switch in the filter housing is letting fuel bleed back down. Usually that is the cause. Others may have more pertinant info.
In the past there was some banter about the weight of the 6TL (70#) causing inner fender well cracks on that rear battery mount. Dual optimas is about 10# more than that so consider this when choosing what tray to use. It would be nice to relocate the fronts so that you and utilize the cold air...
I've never had an issue with the resistor failing, more of the cascading effect of fried glow plugs when one burns out and the voltage goes up in the others.
I don't have a strong knowlege of electonics but from my reading I understand that the whole resistor deal was to facilitate slave starting. I fail to understand how it helps for that but just the same, I left my resistor in place and ready for deployment should it be necessary. My bypass was...
